Yet another chat show with the same type of 'celebrity' guests.

Davina helped BBC1 to its lowest ever peak time share last night. Only 11% tuned in.

The time has come surely to axe Davina. The show is like a prime time version of the interviews done on GMTV.

There's a negative review of the show here as well

Davina's show, which had an 11% share, was not the only one to fare badly in the ratings.

A Panorama special on the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes had just 2.1 million viewers.

Would have thought that Panorama would have pulled a bigger audience than that, mind you I was only watching during the ad breaks of About A Boy ...

I saw the first outing of Davina and nothing has really drawn me to watch it again. She's just not the sort of presenter who can pull off a chat show. Didn't Gaby Roslin have one a while back which went a similar way? The two presenters share a certain "watered down" approach.

Thinking about it though, the guests were Eamon Holmes, presumably so the Beeb could flog the return of his Lottery show; Jordan, presumably so she could flog her breasts on eBay; and Girls Aloud, presumably so they could .... I don't know!

A dire show ... but there are worse.

I haven't seen this show since the first one with Charlotte Church - and even then I only saw the first opening minutes.

What the hell did Eamonn Holmes have to talk about? Confused "Jet Set is err back on Saturday night so it is, Davina"

Probably. Though if you wanted you could attempt to read something into the closing song being "The Best Is Yet to Come"... Subliminal messages to the BBC execs?!

So, "Davina" is drawn to a close, lord knows how many weeks since its beginning but audiences were finally given a repreive from the relentless drone of Davina.

I have to admit I do actually quite like her on Big Brother but her stint into the celebrity promotion, sorry chat show, has been nother short of dire. On the few occassions that I've sat though her performance I've learned very little about the person in question and more in how the chat show circuit works - self promotion.

Of the guests she's actually "drawn" very few, bordering on none, have actually not had a new series/book/product recently released and the usual repetition of "How are you?", "What you doing?", "Oh, that's interesting" and "When/What you on?" quickly found itself the main stream line of questioning for this exercise in how not to gain an understanding of the aforementioned "celebrity", a term I use loosely given the calaber of guest on the show - Jade Goody? Next you'll be telling me the winner of CBB is marrying the lead man of a popular 90's band...

For it's many faults though I did find some appects, after much searching, to be new and refreshing to the chat show format. I liked the use of the pre-introduction VT so famously shown on the latest evictee from Big Brother, in effect the highlights. Also, the interjection of music to the show provided one of the very few lifelines which seems to have sustained the programme for so long. Bands such as 'Kubb' and 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs' was a surprising segment and certainly, if this was to be continued, would be something I'd look at expanding - possibly speaking to the bands, ahh Davina.

All in all this will be no great loss to British Broadcasting as it drew to it's close tonight and I for one, after Davina's recent success at BBC One, would be offering the lady some new careers advice.

I caught the top of this disaster tonight, purely because they seem to have moved it sufficiently early as to not upset TOO many viewers, that is, straight after the news, in the graveyard slot.

Isn't the woman dreadful.

No wonder they're struggling to get HTV West's news viewer.

Sooner she's gone and buried, the better, I'm afraid.

That's the second flop she's had on BBC1 now. I wonder, will there be a third?

Originally it was said that it would be refreshing to have a midweek chat show. But with The Paul O'Grady Show, This Morning, Des and Mel, GMTV etc all offering some midweek chat, albeit in daytime, is there any need to have one in prime time
