I'm puzzled by this. As he was born before 1949 Wogan should be a British subject (if not a citizen) and entitled to a full knighthood, like anthony o reilly.
Also, considering geldof gets sir bob all the time, did he become a British citizen and get an upgrade?
Ive always thought as people from northern ireland are entitled to Irish passports, people from southern ireland should be entitled to british passports.

, he is Irish and cannot use Sir. Instead it will be Terry Wogan KBE.

No the people who call him Sir Bob are wrong. And that includes the BBC

Like it or not, he has contributed a lot to the country.
Maybe so, but to get where he is today, he's upset a lot of people with some very controversial comments. I believe in the past, he's upset stroke patients with insensitive comments, said upsetting things about Romanian orphans, and offended asylum seekers. I gather that because of his controversial comments, he was booed when he accepted an award.
It's slightly worrying that he's honoured in spite of this.

Or Ronnie Barker.....
I'm sure Ronnie Barker will be overjoyed at David Jason becoming a sir - the two of them have been very firm friends since Open All Hours days, and David (oops. Sir David!) has often said that he learned his craft working with Ronnie - so much so that he refers to him as the Guv'nor. The honour is richly deserved; oddly, I don't rate OFAH very highly but I do enjoy Open All Hours, which was the ideal vehicle for David to prove himself working alongside one of the top names in entertainment. The rest is history.

I remember David Jason (Dithers the gardener) and Ronnie Barker working together on the ITV series 'Hark at Barker' which transferred to the BBC as 'His Lordship Entertains' long before 'Open All hours'

Aha, forgot about that. So their assocation goes back a long way!
