David Blaine 'Above the Below'

Bring back Simon Drake on Channel 4's Secret Cabaret - that was truely sick magic. None of your Penn and Teller sort-of-gross magic, oh no ... this was blood on the walls stuff!

Yes i also saw this peculiar looking person around David before the stunt began and he looked to be quite affectionate with him,

But it is reported elsewhere that he does infact have a girlfriend and is happy with her!

Maybe this odd looking person is just another magician?

Why only 44 days for Rogers - surely a tad longer would be more entertaining.

Nor did he spend several days in a block of Ice without food. The guy is an illusionist- anyone who thinks this is real need to think again. I don't know how it's going to be done, but I'll bet my life there's some form of trickery involved.

Apparently people were throwing eggs at the box so they had to clean the windows... very suspicious - his assistants blocking the view whilst "cleaning" the windows...

He's said that if the abuse continues he will not complete his stunt.

Somebody on Digital Spy thinks that he will get the box moved out over the river to "get away from the abuse" and then the box will "accidentally" fall into the river and he'll disappear for a while.

How does the money side of this work?

Is Blaine getting paid a massive amount for the TV rights by Sky/C4 etc? Is there a sponsorship deal involved tied up in it all?

And who do you get permission from to suspend a plastic box with someone inside it over the Thames for 44 days anyway, right next to Tower Bridge? Seems likely there are quite a few health and safety issues besides Blaine himself..

Ooh, just saw that a couple of hours ago on the Magician's Secrets Revealed. So yeah, it's perfectly possible.

I do think that this isn't actually a trick. He did concider putting Glucose in the water supply, but apparantly decided against it. I honestly believe that he doesn't give a damn about dying, that's why he's doing this trick. He just thinks that the media attention is more important than death.

However, I highly doubt he'll last the whole 44 days. He'll either get so bad that he has to be removed, or he'll die. And as morbid as this may sound, it'll be very pointless if he dies half way through and we don't even get to see it happen.

BTW. Do we actually see any of him in the box? I can't find it scheduled on Channel 4 past Monday.
