There hasn't been news that has made me smile for such a long time ... this has! Can't wait to watch Dave!!

The name is based on the idea that "everyone knows a bloke called Dave".

Finally - marketing that actually makes SENSE!! BolIocks to ITV being at the "heart" of programming, or everyONE wanting to watch The One...

I can honestly say I don't know anyone called Dave. That annoys me just as much as that 'Everyone knows a bloke like Mickey' advert. Hopefully that doesn't mean the channel will have the same smug t**t personality of Nuts or what have you.

I'm not seeing the 'genius' in this yet but I'm pleased it's coming to Freeview all the same.

Being in the age range of the target audience, I welcome the addition to Freeview.

I can't help but feel this move dilutes the overall channel package on Freeview. The loss of UKTVBright Ideas and the reduced time on UKTV History, does not serve the older demographic.

With the launch of "Dave" "Nuts" and "Virgin1" - There's now plenty of choice. Granted, UKTV Bright Ideas was quite pedestrian, but did offer something different on Freeview.

My parents friends said sometime UKTV History is the only thing worth watching on digital, so I'm sure they'll miss its presence in primetime.

Well, to me it's easy enough to see why they've gone for this name.

Though, I would have never expected anyone to have the guts to run with it in this way. So I'm sort of equally amused and appalled really; this might not work, it could all come down to the execution.

And yep, I do know a Dave - he isn't annoying either, which is nice.

So are we're agreed that whilst Dave is a great name for a channel, nobody actually likes the "bloke called Dave"?

I know about eight, four of them I like, two are alright & two complete w*nkers

That may sound like I'm over exagerating but I'm not, in our office we have at least eight Daves (David), at least seven Steves, at least ten Johns, three Peters, nine Michaels (Mick, Mike, Mickey), four Tonys (Anthony), four Andys (Andrew) and at one stage we had 3 Sharons although all have since left Confused Laughing

Perhaps that's why people have since started calling their kids Apple & Moon Unit Laughing

Anyway back on topic, please to see we are finally getting Dave since we're losing Mickey & Richard (abc1 & FTN) Wink

I personally hate all actors and hope they die slowly and painfully. Can you tell teacher I won't be there for double Maths later? I've got an appointment with my proctologist.
