They obviously put a bit more effort into it that other UKTV channels then, as Dave's stuff always seems relevant to the show and episode it's going into.

I love seeing Whose Line again. Its great they are showing series one. The feel of the show is completley different, with no Ryan Stiles and Colin Mocherie in the early series.

Will Dave show all the series of Whose Line? I think they were ten series made from 1988-1998?

It would be a shame if they don't.

Five US show Whose Line US editions which really don't live up to the standard of the original UK shows.

Been watching some of the new (ha) Whose Lines on Dave. Has Jan Ravens always been the same age? Apart from the whacky 80s hair, she looks no different to how she does now.

That's right, 136 episodes were made in total.

It would appear Josie Lawrence also has a picture in the attic: what is it with Whose Line contributors and apparent immortality?

The original series of Whose Line is very slow I must say, compared to how fast it had become by the 1993 series. There's still a few comedic gems but it does look incredibly dated (Clive has hair and Richard Vranch looked a hell of a lot older by 1993 than he did in 1988) as its now 20 years old.

Apparently Colin spent nine years on Whose Line so he first showed in the second series and Ryan came the year after that. I think Ryan and Colin added a lot to the show, personally, as I've always thought the episodes without Colin or Ryan are not as good.

The games played on the US shows turn it more towards a comedic stand-up session where many things were done for laughs. The UK show, from the first series, looks more like some sort of stuffy performing arts theatre production. Later on it looked less stuffy but it was still more of a showcase for ability to act and sing and on-the-spot improvisation with the odd laugh thrown in.

Both editions have their good points and their bad points (longer games in the US version but more games per episode in the UK version for example and ever-increasingly daft "guess who I am" quirks for Blind Date and Party Quirks in the US version) and I can take them both. Reading the credits was ultimately dropped in the US version.

If ever a show could come back, Whose Line is prime material. Cheap to make, deep pool of comedic talent (though that silly Barrie Stardust puppet doesn't count) and as its all made up anyway, little initial investment. Even Dave or Challenge could do it on their budgets. Might not have the bigger names but would be still fun to watch I reckon.

For some reason during the first series of Whose Line John Sessions was always present as a regular guest. He also shared top billing with Clive Anderson in the credits for some reason.

I have seen the listings for next week and it appears that Ryan Stiles will be on the show and no John Sessions. Does this mean they will show series two and the whole lot, including the series of 1997/1998 which Dave has not shown yet?

I do like Ryan Stiles and Colin Mocherie. They give the show some sparkle and especially along with Gregg Proops, the show is fantastic.

I know that Series 1 and 2 are out on DVD, just wondering if any other series will be released?

One of the episodes today felt a lot more like the later shows - granted, it had Josie Lawrence, Tony Slattery & Mike McShane as the three "guests", so that's not entirely shocking, but...

They probably could - it might even be better if it was unknowns on Dave rather than the usual panel game suspects on BBC2.

I think what they would really need to do if they went that road though would be to do some serious auditioning - not all comedians can do improv well, and if it's bad it's unwatchable.

Probably because he was a regular panellist on the original radio version of Whose Line and the urban legend says he had top billing with Clive Anderson whenever he appeared in on the show for contractual reasons.

4 On Demand have the first eight series available to rent, however apart from that only the first two seasons have been released on video and DVD. Whether subsequent series are released I suppose it depends on demand and whether they've got the rights in the first place.
