I'd like to think Dave will follow UKTV Gold to widescreen fairly swiftly.
While I really like the channel, they're shooting themselves in the foot a bit - as their target audience are exactly the kind of people who like their 42-inch widescreen plasmas, and don't want to be watching Top Gear in 14:9 letterbox!
The best thing about Dave, is that they dont talk through the credits!! Everytime I've watched the channel, they ALWAYS play out the credits full and clean, they dont even squash them up to the side either!!!!
It seems to be turning into The Top Gear Channel everytime I tune in.
Aside from constant Top Gear, Whose Line, Classic TOTP2 and the comedy themed nights.. what else does it have?
It would be nice if they brought the rights to a few more series of the shows which they are repeating constantly.
One thing that slightly puzzles me with Whose Line is that they've shifted the shows original break to earlier on. The result being a fairly sudden break fade out into the adverts, followed by a notable cut later on. From watching a few clips on YouTube the original break seemed to work much better in my opinion.
From series 5: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_HOhtNAvAV4 From series 7 (slightly different): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=y5UqGTGY0t8 On a related note I see Dave doesn't seem to be showing the Whose line episodes which were filmed in the USA, though were still presented by Clive in the American set.
Currently watching WRC on Dave at the moment and it's in widescreen, Perhaps UKTV/VMTV have decided to show certain shows in widescreen before the switch to widescreen for all VMTV/UKTV channels in a week's time.
What is going on at the moment with UKTV filmising all interlaced video shows? The Top Gear studio and power lap shots have been filmised on all the Series 10 episodes i've been watching. They have also been doing it on classic Doctor Who episodes on UKTV Drama.
