Is it my imagination or did they cut out the improvised singing to the piano music part from the last episode tonight? It's just they thanked the piano player at the end of the show tonight and he didn't do anything Laughing

IIRC they always used to thank Richard Vranch no matter if hsis contribution made the final programme or not.

Yes very true, I've seen a few of the US WLIIA? & I just can't get into them, Clive Anderson is just a better presenter (even if several of his jokes fall flat), Greg Proops, Ryan Styles & Colin Mockery work better in the UK version as well, plus the US version never had Tony Slatter, Josie Lawrence (apart from the odd guest appearance), Steve Frost, Paul Merton, etc.

The running order was odd tonight, starting off with a 1996 episode followed by a 1994 episode (which all the rest were earlier this week), wonder why they sneak a 1996 edition in there?

Such a shame they're showing mostly the newer episodes starring Stiles, Mockery, Proops etc. Towards the end it did descent into the same people doing the same rounds every week - Stiles doing sound effects and 'Helping Hands' where Colin would end up feeding him something nasty. The relience on North Americans did spoil it somewhat

People say whichever you see first (US or UK) you'll prefer more to the other. I saw the US version first but I like them both equally. I feel the earlier series were very basic and not everybody was settled. Mid-seasons were the best as they brought along some true legends. Inspector, I see what you mean by the Americans spoiling the show but Ryan, Colin and Greg have become Whose Line icons from this series - it does upset me when I come across an episode without any of them.

Towards the end of the UK version, it started to become more irritating as it began to show off to the US by bringing the show over, and eventually having it shipped to ABC. I've preferred Drew Carey as the host of the show. Even though I like Clive's witty one-liners, Drew interacts more with the contestants and is therefore alot more funny.

Sadly, the Whose Line franchise is no more as ABC cancelled the series last year due to "low ratings". I just hope Channel 4 could sneak it back here.

From what I understand, by 1996 they had trouble getting people on the show, from the UK, that were of the same humour level of Styles & Proops, what didn't hep was that Josie Lawrence & Steve Frost went on to do other things, Paul Merton was tied up with HIGNFY and Tony Slattery started going off the rails (I've noticed that this series he seems more off the wall compared to the 1993 series) & eventually getting dropped because of his personal problems, the series relied on the US guest resulting into it's eventual migration to the US.

However had it not been dropped I think the UK would have quite a few representitives with Bill Bailey, Matt Lucas, Jimmy Carr, Peter Serofenerenorwitz (or however you spell it) and others

They were good, I've no problem with them as such, it's just the way it ended up with just them doing teh same things every single week.... Ryan's being made to drink something nasty for the 4th week in a row or Colin's doing sound effects again. It just got very predictable

A quick glance through the schedule leads me to believe that normal programming has been replaced with motoring shows, due to Dave/UK G2's much trumpeted 2007 Car of the Year Live Final , airing this weekend.

[sarcasm]Yippee[/sarcasm] - that would explain it though Jonny. Might as well stick with Five US for Whose Line for now...

Yeah, what is the obsession with Top Gear on Dave? I mean, I like Top Gear as much as everyone else but they're rolling out repeats non-stop including the real old series (since the revamp) at the moment.

As for Whose Line..? going...is it coming back?

Hmm... Rather dissapointed that WLIIA? is off air at present (so glad I copied them to DVD) the Top Gear repeats are a bit OTT at present, hopefulyl this is a short term thing, perhaps Dave will change it's line up every month.

Regarding the US ones, I saw them last week and they weren't as bad as I remembered, but Drew Carey is poor in comparison to Clive Anderson. Plus no theme tune Sad

In equally bad news the UK WLIIA? Series 1 & 2 boxset has been pushed back.... To bloody February 2008! Evil or Very Mad

I was looking forward to that coming out next Monday, especially seeing as it's supposed to be it's golden age, and to see Stephen Fry's attempts at the Rap (what they used to do before the hoedown/march) Very Happy
