I'm far too lazy to check if someone's already mentioned this. But.

Pity the IPP was designed to sit *underneath* the DOG!!

I'm continuing along the laziness highway to report that the DOG now cuts off before the IPP slides into view, only to cut back again a few frames after it slides away again. Surely it would make more sense just to make it slide in from, and align to, the right-hand side of the screen, where the DOG is not.

At a guess, the information in the original broadcast was relevant at the time - e.g. a 40th birthday, or the act was on tour - and is of course no longer relevant now that the programme is repeated several years on.

Yeah - that's probably the most likely reason for the text to have been removed. ISTR quite often the text would say things like "Happy Birthday to drummer Joe Bloggs on Sunday". Obviously that's only appropriate for the original Tx.

I'm sure I saw TOTP2 programmes repeated on G2 where references to birthdays weren't blanked out and all the captions appeared to be intact from their initial transmission.

Mind you, if they repeated the Walker/Maconie era of TOTP2, its captions were never based on trivia such as birthdays or current tours, plus it would be nice to see those shows again, much better than the Wrighty years.

I have to echo peoples thought on Whose Line Is It Anyway?
I've been watching them on Dave and they have me in stitches ( not literally) every time. I find myself really looking forward to them.
Thank god for my freeview recorder !

What's going on with the Top Gear repeats? It's one thing to have no 16:9 tapes - but they're now starting to play out in straight 4:3 cut-out. The program's only 14:9 safe!

I noticed this when they started playing the new-ish episodes. Some of them are in 14:9 and some of them are (very bad quality) 4:3. It's amazing when you watch the BBC Three repeats just how much quality is lost through the process of getting them to 'Dave'

They should definately bring Whose Line Is It Anyway back, I agree, the repeats still have me on the floor with laughter. However as Mark and Dan have created the Mock the Week format they probably won't want anymore Whose Line..

Yep, it seems that the "blanking out" is only a recent thing - certainly as recently as six months ago, they were broadcasting shows that contained out-of-date captions.

Going back to Top Gear, I've just seen an ad for Series 10 episodes of Top Gear on Dave/UKTVG2. They were only on BBC2 2 weeks ago and they haven't even broadcasted half of the new episodes on BBC2 yet, how long before Top Gear airs on Dave first before BBC2 Laughing

Yes very true, I've seen a few of the US WLIIA? & I just can't get into them, Clive Anderson is just a better presenter (even if several of his jokes fall flat), Greg Proops, Ryan Styles & Colin Mockery work better in the UK version as well, plus the US version never had Tony Slatter, Josie Lawrence (apart from the odd guest appearance), Steve Frost, Paul Merton, etc.

The running order was odd tonight, starting off with a 1996 episode followed by a 1994 episode (which all the rest were earlier this week), wonder why they sneak a 1996 edition in there?

Is it my imagination or did they cut out the improvised singing to the piano music part from the last episode tonight? It's just they thanked the piano player at the end of the show tonight and he didn't do anything Laughing

I found it amazing that apparently Colin and Ryan didn't know who John Major was. Laughing

I do love the long running gags between the US and the UK. I remember in Film and Theatre Styles, one audience member shouted "Oprah WInfrey". Clive replied "Have they got that in America?" Laughing
