I'm rather happy with Dave, Top Gear (although the US special was butchered to much at the end), WLIIA?, NMTB, HIGNFY & Red Dwarf coming up in the week it's great, even if alot of it is repeats. My highlight so far WLIIA?, remembering this as a kid on Channel 4 & not seeing it for years kind of makes it fresh in a way.
BTW apologies for the abbreviations, can't be asked to write them out in full everytime

They could probably argue that the whole schedule is 'new to Dave'.
I appreciate the idea behind the re-brand, but 'Dave' ? It's just too silly and abstract.
Why would an advertiser want to advertise on some random channel called Dave?
You would think however that this has been considered.
There I was years ago thinking 'Men and Motors' was silly.

Well certainly sticks in my mind, I honestly didn't believe that they would go through with the name but they did

For every time you say Dave there, substitute "UKTVG2" and then ask yourself which one rolls off the tongues more.
That's probably the thought process behind the re-brand - replace an obscure name with 6 syllables to one with 1 - whilst keeping individualism and irreverence.
As for advertising, it's just become available to 10.5million more homes. That's attractive.
And it's NOT just some random channel buried in the 200s. It's just a new name for a channel with clear links to an established bouquet of channels.

Exactly. Nuff said bout YOUR expertise in branding.

I'd think it's a very good name for advertisers... they don't need to waste time going into demographics and who they're aiming their programming at etc the word 'Dave' does a lot of that job by itself.
Men and Motors is a fairly good name too it encapsulates exactly what the channel shows and the sort of person they're aiming at... it's a Ronseal name - does exactly what it says on the tin!

I'm far too lazy to check if someone's already mentioned this. But.
Pity the IPP was designed to sit *underneath* the DOG!!

Well it's worked (in a way!)... My parents, who are complete numpties when it comes to things changing and new things - spotted the new channel name in the EPG and stuck it on.
If they're getting new "ooh what's this?" viewers, then they've potentially got a whole new viewership - if they stick with the channel that is.
