Why are UKTV channels still running trailers announcing "new" programmes on UKTV G2 when they are closing the channel in less than 12 hours? Why not run "Dave" trailers?
I've seen the UKTV website, and my conclusion is, at grass roots level, that "Dave" is really just a new name for UKTV G2. So much for a new channel!
Why bother changing a name? First it was UKTV Gold 2, that became UKTV G2 and from tomorrow that same channel will be called Dave. Why keep renaming what's been, all its life, just one channel. Why didn't they keep it as UKTV Gold 2 all along, and simply put that on Freeview as of tomorrow. Likewise, by now, to complement it, UK Gold should have become UKTV Gold 1 during the UK to UKTV rebrand, not UKTV Gold.
They should for sure rebrand UKTV Gold as UKTV 1 as it stopped being
UK!
..
GOLD!
many many years ago now and actully UKTVG2 has gone though more name changes than that.
Well UKTV Bright Ideas has gone. Just a normal ident with a quick message from the anouncer that you can find all your favorite lifestyle programmes on UKTV Style, Food and Gardens, and that Dave is along tomorrow morning from 7. Nothing spectacular to end.
UKTV 1 would have been the better option for a name and given them the scope to show programming from across the UKTV family on it.
The only problem is that with the rest of the portfolio of channels having a title which connects to the type of programming shown, wouldn't it have left it out there on its own, or would it then inspire UKTV to number up all of their channels like every other network?
