The old thread has been archived, so I've started a new one with this latest news. GuardianMedia has announced that Dave is to show new idents to celebrate their first anniversary from 15th October:
The usual marketing drivel from Red Bee, and I can't say I'm impressed with the one that I've seen. You can see one of the new idents here.
GuardianMedia posted:
The broadcaster is planning to launch a range of new promotional idents for the channel - which airs a range of BBC repeats and shows including Top Gear, Have I Got News for You and QI - on October 15, the first anniversary of its relaunch as Dave.
Dave's on-air branding refresh will also include an overhaul of the online presence for Dave, www.dave-tv.co.uk, to give viewers a much more immersive and interactive experience.
Four new idents have been created, by agency Red Bee Media, to spruce up on-air marketing of Dave.
The four new idents feature a group of twentysomethings engaged in slightly surreal activities, such as playing cowboys and indians in a giant house and firing one of their number from a circus cannon.
Several of the new idents will be seeded online ahead of the TV launch on different fan groups that have sprung up in support of the offbeat brand image that Dave has nurtured.
The four new idents - "Cannonball", "Cowboys and Indians", "King of the Swingers" and "Wacky Races" - will augment the six that have been used to promote the channel since it relaunched last October.
"We wanted to further explore the world of Dave, a subversive place where anything can happen," said Julia Restall, the marketing manager for Dave at UKTV.
"We want to keep surprising viewers and be innovative and push the creative a bit more this time."
