I don't remember that odd TTT promo!
Talking of the 5.10 junction, I've just found one on tape from early-mid 1990 where Alan Cartner announces birthday greetings over a specially constructed slide in the ITV 1989 style, featuring a 'Birth Days' (sic) caption from about 1982!
I think it features the Tyne Tees logo at the top rather than the ITV generic style logo - it must have been some point during Spring 1990 that TTT replaced the ITV logo with their own on holding slides.

Tyne Tees replaced the ITV logo with the TTTV one (and changed the colour of the text from while to blue) during Christmas 1989. They then retained this look when they used the "into the 90s" graphics set as a background for the whole of 1990 (well, up until the following Christmas, anyway).
Over Christmas 1989 there was a slightly jarring period when they had a "Weather" slide with the old logo, immediately followed by a holding slide with the replacement TTTV one. Not great.
Yes, I remember the "Birth Days" logo being re-used; they actually started using this in 1989; remember the marble effect background they used in early 1989? It was a full screen of that with a large Birthdays logo in the middle. They captioned this live "with Allan Cartner" (or Jonathan Morrell/Clem Shaw later on).

What's that kinda circular logo behind the LWT Logo there, John? I've never seen that angled LWT logo before.

Can I add to the wishlist?
If so, some late 90s ITV inquiries...
What date did Granada's transmission move to Leeds? A lot of people seem to guestimate October 5th 1998, which is when the lower case 'itv' logo came into use, along with the hearts breakbumpers for the GMG regions. However, I've heard others suggest perhaps as eary as Spring 1998. I've also heard that Granada may have retained its own announcers for a short period of time in the very early days of Leeds' control.
When did ITV trailers begin to appear on Granada?
What was the deal with Carlton and Central using region-specific ITV trailers c1998. Even before the cake was ditched, it seems Central had ITV trailers but with an endboard which featured the cake in the lefthand margin. It would have made sense if both Carlton and Central were sharing the exact same trailers for networked programmes but that doesn't seem to have been the case.
As has already featured in this thread, I'd also like to know when the Central Cake was dropped. However, also, I'd like to know, if possible whether Central's idents were made in 1998 or whether they were made along with Carltons in 1996 but the rebrand for Central was aborted/postponed, giving the cake a stay of execution. These ident were only used on Central for no more than 15 months which suggests this was the case. If so, what was the story behind this? Did Carlton commision these quasi-Carltonised idents but then got cold feet about messing with Central so much, or did they try to go through with it only for Central's management and presentation department to resist meaning they backed down over it? If the latter was the case, what had changed by Spring 1998? I take Carlton had managed to subjugate the Central managment by then, or enough influential figures had left to be replaced by Carlton loyalists or was Central's management level removed entirely?
Some BBC Two 1991-2001 series ident queries...
The music was slightly different when the idents first launched in 1991. TV Ark has examples of the original 11 as they were on launch day. Any idea what date the altered versions arrived? I believe it was very early on. Some say even within a number of weeks. I assume these were no re-recordings, as the arrangements seem too similar but rather a remix of the existing recordings; if anyone can confirm. Also, does anyone have the story behind why it was deemed necessary to change them. I personally don't feel there was a lot wrong with the original musical forms.
There's a lot of conflicting information over the internet about when individual idents of the BBC Two 1991-2001 era came into and out of use. Whilst any information relating to these idents would be much appreciated, the two I'm most interested in finding out about are Paper Cut Out and Crystal Ball - the two rarest ones and the only two 'standard use' idents that I have no memory of whatsoever. Both have conflicting information on the internet about how long they were in use.
Paper Cut Out - Wikipedia, for example, reckons it was in use as late as December 1993, being withdrawn at the same time as Glass, however, many more claim it didn't see Christmas 91, some even suggesting it was gone within weeks - perhaps even before the music as remixed. I personally find that quite believable as I would certainly have memories of this ident if it had lasted as long as December 1993, as I do have vague but positive memories of Glass.
Crystal Ball - it seems to be generally accepted that this ident was brought in along with Dog, Car, Firework and Balloon, from 1st November 1993 onwards, however, there's a train of thought that this ident was withdrawn after just three weeks, whilst Wikipedia seems to think it survived until December 1995. Again, a very short tenure makes sense to me as I have no memory of the ident, whereas I'm sure I would if it had lasted for 25 months. Another query I have with this ident is that out of the five that were introduced in November 1993, it is clearly the odd one out. Whilst the others were clearly a lot 'lighter' than the orignal 11+2, Crystal Ball looked like it was from the orignal set. Perhaps this was actually an original that never made it on air for whatever reason, only to be given a chance later on, only to fail anyway?
Glass - Wikipedia suggests this was withdrawn in December 1993, along with Paper Cut Out (which I doubt). This doesn't make sense to me as five new idents arrived in November 1993 and none in December. Surely Glass went when these new idents (Car, Dog etc) arrived in November? Glass was supposed to have been used in Northern Ireland unti the logo change of 1997, however, there is slightly conflicting information on its use in the North West. It's often said that it was played out once, by accident between network dropping it and the logo change of October 1997. Other sources suggest it wasn't an accident and BBC North West used it intentionally like BBC Northern Ireland did. I'd be grateful to know which is true. If it was just accidently played out once, it'd be awesome, though I suppose highly unlikely, that someone knows the exact date this occurred.
Any help on any of these would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible you could give us an audio comparison so we can hear the differences? To my trained ears, I can't hear a difference at all.

I'll use Silk as an example, the ident which I feel had the nicest music of all and one where the difference is quite noticable...
Original...
Revised...
Silk & Neon are the most obvious ones because of the difference in the 'plinky plonky' which provides the main part of the tune for both of them. The others are more subtle but you will notice if you play them one after the other. Personally, I prefer the original Silk track, as the whale noises are more prominent. On the revised version, the 'plinky plonk' dominates a bit too much and the whale noises and other effects are too far back in the mix.

Just a nice Bump for people to keep in there minds, where still looking for details about LWT early 80s ident, and above with the BBC Two idents. I dont think there any thing else at this point of time needing to be sorted...
