Well, neither of the programmes in that clip were introduced by any kind of ident or IVC. That doesn’t mean the cake didn’t appear in other junctions that day.

It was more to do with the promo style being the old style. Ive always said cake was never an ident to start with but started with pres but quickly moved over I think..

Can anyone remember the thread about trying to sort out BBC sport pres over the years? I thought it was this thread but its seems not:

1997: revised BBC global
1999: New Sport stings
2003: Feb changed again...

??????

2012 New pres as part of the euros?
2017 Retih appeared .

There was two changes between 2003 -2012 and I'm sure it was connected to big sporting events, that someone wrote about it.

On hiatus from 1 January 2019. Perhaps I take the drawbacks of the written word *too* seriously.

The copy I have on TV Whirl dates from 16th July 1999, so it must have come in quite a few months earlier than December. Although they seemed to be using them before the breaks on the junctions I have, and still using regular lines ones as idents into the actual shows.

Big question has to be when did there stop being break bumpers and switch to idents.

HTV Wales Wales Today
Just to Check Come January 1993 HTV merged Continuity with wales and West getting the same junctions?

Wales and West had separate Continuity Announcers still from 1993 although late evening and overnight I think they shared announcers. The idents no longer had Wales or West on them just HTV from January 1993.

Trying to think when South Park launched on Channel 4 as it began life on Sky One in 1998 on Saturday nights. Not sure how many series Sky had before making its home on Channel 4 for a while let alone its random time on STV.

From memory the South Park idents were introduced for a special South Park Night, which a quick Google search tells me was Monday 3rd May 1999 to launch the start of the second series on terrestrial.

South Park launched on Sky One on March 28th 1998, and on Channel 4 on July 10th 1998 - actually astonishingly quick when you consider how long it took for The Simpsons to launch on terrestrial, presumably this time they knew they weren't going to make the same mistake and snapped it up extremely quickly.
