I think that's one of their seasonal graphics packages they used with the generic look (even had an accompanying clock). I suspect its summer 1993, since the clip this come from (uploaded by benriggers) is 25th July 1993, and there is a clip on TVARK of the clock introducing the Calendar Yorkshire Day Special. Most likely would have been dropped in Autumn and replaced with this
I think this practice continued until the new look in September 1994.
(Also just noticed how similar the whole thing looks to the BBC graphics of the time).

Were back to Granada plus:
I get the feeling both were from the same set, No idea if there papered in 2003?
But we have now found another set of idents, when did this appear?

TV Ark reckons that one was 1999. It has no relation to the new idents of 2000. Grampian's North Tonight changed at around the same time, and it used the same typeface but lacked the blue square, so it's not a generic title sequence like ITV plc would later introduce in their regions.
Yeah this was 1999, there was a promo that went out on Scottish about the new look and new technology that was coming in...

This may be a shock BUT your both wrong TV ARK is once again clearly wrong, and people need to stop quote TV ark for any information until there get there act together..... ( it doesn't help both there clips are not even from 1999!)
That look was introduced in January or February 2000.
If it was 2000, that would tie in chronologically with STV News (Scotland Today) having a revamp every 3 years..

The look was very disastrous for Scottish since the first week it fall off air upteen times, which made Launch day of Central news south look like a walk in the park.
I think this is the most appropriate thread for this. I've only just noticed that the HTV signature notes in this:
lasted into the next ident:
So essentially the music was a reworking of the original 'waterfall' tune.
And THEN, the 'WAAAH WAAAH' of the first ident returned for this:
So a variation of Waterfall was used for longer than I first thought (the 1993-1995 'ice cream van' music aside)
9 days later
