I'm not sure what you're asking but I'm pretty certain they went on with that odd mixture of branding* until their new logo whenever that was, 96?

I think the circle version was only used as a coming up, alongside their main ident which had several versions.

*still using the production caption from the mid 80's and the '89 ITV break bumper

If you type in LWT 1994 all you get is the Circle ident.

As usual I haven't the foggiest what you are on about, but if you are after examples of circles and blocks idents, then have a look at the videos here: http://www.ultimate-lwt.co.uk/continuity1990s.html

From what I remember, these "circle idents" weren't actually idents, they were used to promote the next programme going into the break...

Yep, as I mentioned above.... however looking at the videos at http://www.ultimate-lwt.co.uk/continuity1990s.html they seemed to be used occasionally for intros to programmes.

1994 probably is right for when they were introduced, they were brought in later than the main ident, presumably to replace coming up slides

This video does show it being used for both duties.

IIRC HTV West, Carlton Westcountry, Anglia and Meridian were the only regions that didn't acknowledge the last day of on air regional branding. All Granada North regions, Bob Preedy signed off for good and acknowledged change in the morning, as I did believe something similar on Carlton Central.
Ted May said goodbye IIRC
