We are now moving on to Carlton Stars:

TV ark has 11 idents: http://www2.tv-ark.org.uk/itvlondon/carlton-idents4.html is that the full set of main idents?

Main one I can see missing there are the New Year idents for 2001 and 2002. Both used the Millennium ident as a basis but changed the last digit of the year - the 2001 one can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFZ-DFjePqo and the 2002 one I encoded a few years back.

The one labelled "Corporate News Drama" was used very rarely and usually only on sombre occasions, particularly for a few days after 9/11. "Daytime No Strawberry" was withdrawn in about 2001, and the Christmas idents were re-used in 2000 and 2001. Although Carlton were deeply hated on this forum and others at the time - mostly for getting rid of Central/Westcountry - that set of idents were brilliant, and a shame when they were withdrawn for the dull generic celebrity idents.

Those Carlton idents were fantastic. This is probably my favourite:

It may just be a case of different recollections, but the above ident seemed to be played out fairly frequently in the Midlands - and was certainly one of my favourites.

What exactly was the point of "Daytime No Strawberry"?

"Corporate News Drama" was the one with the gold background and black heart. Elsewhere it has been referred to as Eclipse or Sunset but I believe its correct name is Planet. It was very rarely played in any of the regions, and had several outings around 9/11 and when the Queen Mother died. It was also the last ident used by HTV which ended with a red background rather than the usual blue.

I always preferred the HTV variants of the hearts.

According to TV Ark, a shorter version of "Corporate News Drama" was the last ident that HTV used on 27th October 2002. Strangely, it also apparently went out with a red background and without the ITV1 logo or web address:

Yes funnily enough I just referred to that in my post above but we cross-posted.

Basically they weren't allowed to do any tributes along the lines of LWT and were meant to let it go without any mention whatsoever. The ident was played as a very subtle and typically defiant-with-a-small-d goodbye to HTV.

I saw your post but I completely missed your sentence on the last ident, sorry!

It's certainly a subtle way of saying goodbye, at least they managed to do something for it on air unlike most regions, even if it is something as subtle as what they did.

IIRC HTV West, Carlton Westcountry, Anglia and Meridian were the only regions that didn't acknowledge the last day of on air regional branding. All Granada North regions, Bob Preedy signed off for good and acknowledged change in the morning, as I did believe something similar on Carlton Central.
