So when did Thames Dump that ITV ident?

28 Oct? or 4 nov> 1991?

That break-bumper at 00:45 in the video - is it just me that can see what looks like a YTV chevron?!

When was the coloured Central 'cake' introduced? Not necessarily as an ident, but on holding slides, promos etc? I've seen an example of it from 1984.

Also, on the subject of YTV, there was a short still version of the 1987 Liquid Gold frontcap and jingle, which was normally played in live on repeats which still had the old frontcap. Basically the new endcap with a short five-note jingle.

There was also a mocked-up version of the new endcap which had a blue stripe added to the bottom of the old endcap. This was also added live onto repeats.

These were only seen briefly in 1987, and normally on schools programmes. I wonder if any footage exists?

I'd be surprised if the Cake came any earlier than 1984.

It should be august 1985. Prior to the that the coloured strips were used from early 1984 for promo etc.

Regarding the Central stripes, they were introduced to the IVC studio by at least December 1982 (there's a clip somewhere on YT with Gary Terzza introducing an episode of "The Professionals" immediately following a trail for Christmas programmes shown that year, but I can't seem to locate it at present). The stripes began featuring in Central's own promotions in 1983 - the earliest example presented online is on TV Ark, which relates to the final Bank Holiday Monday that year:

It is correct that the cake was first used in trails/the IVC set/idents shown locally from August 1985 onwards; the "moon" stayed on as the pre-programme ident, and furthermore on the end production caption until September 1988.

This is the Central slide I was referring to, used as a bumper/EOP slide.

So this must be after August 1985?

HTV: Think they dumped the blue watery background in favour of orangey yellow the day the news times changed and the Evening/Nightly News were launched.

ISTR HTV (Wales) News relaunched with the rather dull orange/yellow titles with rather rubbishy music new name (HTV NEWS as opposed to Wales Tonight) on that day.

That new HTV look on the 8th march 1999, did that also replace that orange look?
