It seems Sue Powell-Reed was the only Culverhouse Cross announcer to remain among the HTV announcing rota after 1993, staying onto until the wind-up of separate continuity in Wales.

By the 00's the Wales continuity team consisted of Sue Powell-Reed, Leighton Jones with Dilwyn Young Jones filling in. Dilwyn was the last voice to say "You're watching HTV, ITV1 in Wales".

Are you suppose to see the train to hit the buffers?

I believe once the train hits the buffers there is a massive explosion which sees the railway set dramatically destroyed in seconds though as I've said I've yet to see the ident in full so can't comment on whether or not this is true...

The train has well and truly hit the buffers now - plenty of 'train crash telly' on ITV!

Im not confused, the video Si-Co post does show the train reach the buffers.. so what is missing? thats Not that extra ident is for the news intro I believe.

Well in 25 pages I think we needed a witty remark to keep our heads for going off.

Does this mean the 1970 ident is missing?

Ulster Television introduced the "broken telly" oscilloscope-TV-in-a-box logo in 1970 to coincide with the launch of its colour UHF service from the Divis transmitter on Monday 14th September in that year - but it's uncertain if that happened on the same day as the transmitter switch-on.

The "telly-on-a-stick"/"lollipop" was first used on Friday 31st October 1980 and was commissioned to mark the station's 21st anniversary; not for the 25th anniversary in 1984.

Even UTV's website corroborates on these dates: http://www.u.tv/Galleries/UTV-Idents/A23743CA-0A1E-488A-97C5-4591911DC6C0#162362

It's still 100% unclear exactly when the last oscilloscope (blue TV shape/yellow lines) was introduced, it's most likely early January 1989; but dates for ident/logo updates afterwards as documented on current websites are correct.

Ugh, UTV needs to check their facts, two 2006 idents are mislabelled as 1996. And why aren't they in chronological order?

I read that as referring to the concept of putting Northern Ireland landscapes in their idents as starting in 1996 - which they did in October that year (the Giant's Causeway, Portaferry harbour etc.) and have mainly stuck with since (their brief flirtation with the ITV 2002 "celebrity" idents excepted) in different ways.

I'm unsure why they didn't put the gallery in chronological order, but the key images and information are there, so isn't that better than nothing at all?

I believe Granada did briefly use the generic ITV ident in 1989 in selected junctions. Not sure how much detail you're wanting to go into here though, as the same could be said for a few other regions that didn't officislly take that ident.
