???? Moving Blue Background with new music was introduced at the same time as the dark blue background with new music i.e. Autumn 1995.
The date is pretty much correct, as they were commissioned at the same time as the promo graphics featured here

Border's only ever unique Christmas ident was introduced in December 1995 and was used for years

Never understood really why the Border logo was dropped completely at the time of the hearts rebrand - it would have looked no worsae in a little blue box than the Granada, Tyne Tees or Yorkshire logos.
So we have conficktng date
Whats worse is there is infact an ident missing!

* 1993 pink Background with 1989 music
* 1995 Sstatic Blue background with 1989 music
* ???? Moving Blue background with new music
* 1997? Dark blue background with clock type disk, with new music:
1st September 1995 if my memory serves me correctly.

Agree with you, from what I understand, the reason to drop was the then programme controller didn't see the relevance of the logo so removed it, bit then Granada reintroduced it a couple of years later on the production slide but not the ident.

It is also worth remembering that when the logo was dropped, Border was still independent, not yet owned by Granada (or even Capital Radio) and still doing its own continuity.
Things may have been different if Granada had bought them sooner. Also, if SMG had bought them, things could have been very different.

Im lead to believe the radio company that had brought border had pre deal already in place with Granada for the tv station.

Couldn't see the relevance? That person must not know his geography, it's a stylised B split into three sections representing Scotland, England and the Isle of Man. It's no less relevant than Granada's or Yorkshire's.

Re: the Anglia flag, the earliest clip I know of it being used is this:
...which Robin Carmody and I dated to Tuesday 22nd March 1988.
In the comments for this file, there are suggestions the flag look came into use between Thursday 17th March and then, but nothing to confirm the exact date.

If anyone it would have to be Monday 21st March 1988, We were able to track down the last days of the cake this anglia ident should be a piece of cake to found out

I think it was the radio comedy series The Burkiss Way that once had the spoof announcement:
'You're watching Anglia Television, serving the East of England..... right!'
Quite. It's amazing to think that merely months if not weeks later, they'd have gone from having possibly the most antiquated presentation on the network to having the most up to date presentation, including an ident that still stood up well when it was finally retired in November 1999

No, I think the confusion lies with the fact that the ITV hearts were used in dual branded trailers and continuity slides a while before the idents were launched.
Cheers. What about the regional logos with the ITV logo tacked on underneath? Here's a Meridian example...
I know an Anglia one also existed as I remember seeing a very low resolution screen grab of it on the internet years ago, though it's now long gone. I would like to know when these were introduced or how they were used. I remember seeing Anglia in June 1999 and there was no ITV logo on the ident, so it must've been introduced very late in the day, if they were gone in November of that year.
* I have heared rumours that both Anglia and Meridian still occassionally used their regional idents during the early days of the hearts era, although I've never came across any confimation of this.

I suspect it may have done. Maybe, they should have renewed it earlier....
When Anglia updated their pres toward that latter part of the 1990s - especially the break bumper, which to the unfamiliar might've hinted at a matching ident, similar to the purple version of the above Meridian style - it made it all the more odd that the flag ident alone didn't update with everything else. So it was left looking a little out of place.
