Shame that photo's already out of date what with Michael Fish in and no Isobel Lang. Has she returned from maternity leave or has she simply been demoted because she used to be a regular on BBC1??

I'm not talking about a team photo. They've all had new individual ones done.

The group Photograph on the Web Site hasnt been changed yet; still no Dan but Michael Fish

The BBC Website has got it right tonight, it says Dan is on BBC News 24 evening and overnight today and lo and behold he is! Laughing

He done the regional forecasts this morning, might see him on the One later as last week!

No, you won't see him on the One today, the overnight presenter records the regional forecasts for the morning but then goes home!

I think Dan's going to be back on the overnight shift again tonight though, I was up into the small hours working last night and heard Dan doing the forecast on Janice Long's show on Radio 2 at 1:45 (it was hilarious incidentally, poor Janice didn't know what to do with herself!) and he said he'd be back tonight as well.

First time I've watched late night News24 for ages, and saw Dan so did a google for him and found this forum! What a great forecaster and what an entertaining forecast at 02:25 today!

"Here comes the cold air - vhoom" Shocked

"Makes you want to dig out those winter coats"

Can't wait for later on in the week when the forecast firms up a bit!

I notice he's started this habit of pointing at the camera at the end of the morning regional forecasts, I always watch Spotlight (can't stand London news anymore!) so I'm not entirely sure whether he does it in other regions...

Yes I think in every broadcast he does, he does THAT point.
It has become a trademark.
Why isnt he made the main BBC Weather forcaster?

Well it's definitely time they put him on more BBC One shifts. I can see him becoming as much of a national institution as Ian McCaskill given time.

By the way, can anyone identify what his accent is? I had always thought he was from New Zealand, but then someone said he was American... although he doesn't sound it. Any ideas?

Definitely not New Zealand then! I think it's probably just particularly "plummy" English with some unusual undertones.

So a mixture of Essex, Irish, New York and Texan undertones then. Can't think why I couldn't place it! Wink

D'oh! How thick do I feel now? Incidentally I did actually get an A at A-Level Geography. Just shows how much use it was! Embarassed
