For those of you that have seen Dan, you will all know what I mean ... This guy is a legend, so can we please bombard BBC to get him back on to mainstream BBC Weather reports? He really is the man ... I love it when he says ... "Thats the weather .... For Now..." and then he winks and points his finger ... Classic.

Other fave sayings from Dan Corbett ... The weather will improve tomorrow, should be ideal for taking doggy out for a walk .... or how about, this weather system just isnt moving, just like that horrible dinner party guest that refuses to leave ....

I know this has probably been discussed before, but enough is enough. Lets hear it for Dan Corbett, a legend in his own weather reporting lifetime

The legend himself is back on mainstream broadcasts already - he's been on News 24 a lot in the last few months, as well as the Breakfast regional inserts and Breakfast at the weekends.

I agree he is great, but I'm not sure they'd ever put him on BBC1 - possibly a bit controversial!

Welcome nrp! If you're a Dan Fan, you'll find yourself in good company here on TV Forum. Very Happy

Incidentally, do we know for certain that he's back at the Beeb for good? I've not seen him for a few weeks now.

I dont know for definite if he is back for good, but I really think we should start a petition and get the BBC or The Met Office to let us know when the guy is on TV. I mean the weather is boring but he just cracks me up. Thats my reply .... For Now!!

Yes, he's back at the Beeb - he's doing regular forecasts for BBC World.

It says on his page on the Weather website that he has returned to work full time at the BBC Weather Centre. He was certainly doing the Radio 4 forecast late last night, so he is still around.

Incidentally, it is now possible to find out in advance whether Dan (or indeed any of your favourite weather forecasters) is on on any particular day by going to the BBC Weather website, click on UK and then Forecasters and you can see a list of who's on what shift.

Apparently (he was on Jeremy Vine's Radio Two programme and confirmed this) Michael Fish retires next month - so Dan C could feature more prominently from then.

Marvellous news!

Slightly off topic, does anyone know if there will be any special celebrations to mark Michael Fish's departure?

Wash your mouth out IanPrice! Mr Corbett is truly a living legend. Put him on the nationals more often!

I love the plummy pseudo-English accent, all the more strange when you consider he spent most of his childhood in America IIRC. But it's more than just RP; it's the sort of accent a well educated foreigner would have with just a hint of hypercorrection (sorry, the linguistics training speaking here). A star at any rate.

dont get me wrong, he is a star. Because he isnt on that often its fun to watch him, with his unique style. If he was on all the time I would probably eventualy hate him!!
But if you want a detailed ,accurate proffessional forecast (like rob mcelwee or john hammond gives you), swich it off when daniel is on! Wink

"the odd spot of rains popping in"

whats with this " rains " he keeps saying?!!... and " popping "!

thats all from me, for now Wink
