Assuming this hasn't been mentioned already...

From the BBC Weather website presenter profiles (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/bbcweather/forecasters/dancorbett.shtml):

Now in 2004 Dan has returned to work full-time at the BBC Weather Centre and is broadcasting across a range of channels.

So there we have it, a definitive answer - Dan is back for good!

Not for those who want a proper, rational and reasonably accurate report and forecast, rather than a piece of whimsy, it isn't.

I disagree - his forecasts are just as accurate as anyone else's and they're certainly "proper". However, I can appreciate that his style might not be to everyone's taste.

He certainly has vast meteorological knowledge and experience, and in my opinion he manages to convey the science of the weather in an interesting and engaging way.

To the average viewer they are only interested in whether the washing can go out in the morning. He delivers the weather on a practical level but I wouldn'y say it was any less accurate.

first time I saw Dan t'was a 1 weather report, back in the day when it came after the programme had finished - proper like. i was up my nan and grandad's house and we just all stopped wot we was doing and watched him in action.

GavBelfast - oh come on - would you rather have the positively dull jay wynne or the rabbit-in-the-headlights that is sarah wilmshurst or the enthusiasm of mr corbett? He's brought a freshness to the weather - "double digits", "wriggling like a worm" (regarding a cold front) and my favourite - his signoff and hand gesture - "that's the weather (pause and point) for now"

imagine if you'd just watched a N24 bulletin of death, starvation and high interest rates. You could do with some cheering up, no?

That's my view...for now.

If you enjoy Dan Corbett's forecasts, why not call BBC Information and tell them. 08700 100 222.

He advised us last night with the sticky night to strip off the sheets.

One thing I do notice with him is when he circles any low pressure systems on the map, try and notice what he does with his finger, he appears to do with a lot of force to describe their intenstity.

Or on the other hand, I could go out and play in the streets Smile

Some great Dan-isms over the weekend on N24 and Breakfast, my favourite being his description of a low pressure area over Britain as being "like an unwanted houseguest, a guest who just doesn't want to leave". Classic!

Plus I saw one where he told us to "lop on the sun lotion because you don't want to end up like a little frozen red lobster"!

Great to see him back.

The look on my dad's face (who is a virgin to Dan Corrbett) when he was watching Brekkie this morning was priceless. I think Dan should be promoted to do the weather on the six so as to bring him to a whole new audience.
