A 30-minute results show follows at 9.30pm - but for 13 celebs it seems a short show - I'm sure last year the early rounds were two hours long.

Just the Men dancing tonight, thats why.

Good to see John Sachs back.

Some caps of the breakbumpers UTV have been using the last few days. They start off with just the ice skate, then the UTV logo slides on and then changes into the text.

This one was used on Thursday and Friday:

Nice to see them using the soap style ECP at the end - works so much better when action continues in the background, that's if ITV don't slap a graphic over it highlighting the web address which is already on screen!

Also noticed the © ITV Studios 2009 on the end credits. Is this the first programme to have this?

Was tonight's Dancing on Ice the first non soap/continuing drama to use the bottom screen credits, or did they use them on the Christmas special?

It worked well in my opinion, allowing to keep the 'lap of honour' whilst adhering to ITV's credit procedures. I do think (this applies to the soaps too) that when not running a programme clip, or a menu, the full screen 'Next' or web address are too much. Surely they can just insert an equally sized black (or transparent) bar above the credits, rather take up the whole screen.

As for the programme itself, a great first episode, have they done a few changes to the set, though sticking to the original look. A great opening sequence and for the first week some of the dances were great. I do think that Ray deserved his marks, I'm guessing that he'll be this years Chris Fountain.

Only criticism of the show really was they didn't need to split the boys and girls - they had 12 in the first round last year, so one more wouldn't make much difference - and if the aim was to make it so the worse are least likely to be in the bottom two it didn't work, and just like Todd this week I expect Colleen to survive next week.

I wonder too if come the final they'll remember their "Make me a Star" competition from last year in which the winner would get to perform during this years grand final.

But if they did that then the show would need to be around 2 hours or more which is very long.

Only half an hour longer, and exactly the same length as last years first show, and the first edition of The X Factor. Starting at 6.30pm would hardly be a problem either - last year it started before 6pm in the early rounds.

Except for viewers on STV, where the ECP covers all the names.

Exactly - too long. I think the length was just right last night.
