Well, basically, it's a special show broadcast outside of the normal run, usually around the time of the ancient pagan festival of Yuletide, appropriated by a bunch of neo-Jews who worship a man nailed to a couple of 2-by-4s.

The deal is you get to see it again in June on a digital channel.

Basically ITV finally relaised that if Strictly Come Dancing can do a special on Christmas Day they can too with this show. I'm surprised it took them so long to figure it out. But it's up against Wallace & Gromit so we'll see what effect that has on both shows.

A 30-minute results show follows at 9.30pm - but for 13 celebs it seems a short show - I'm sure last year the early rounds were two hours long.

Interesting that they brought Michael Underwood back after he couldn't compete last year. They should have done the same with Kelly Brook on Strictly Come Dancing.

When I read about Todd Carty - I couldn't help but thing on the Peter Kay show which of course starred "Tucker Jenkins at Jesus H. Christ" in their special Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice. Either a very amusing irony or there was a bit of foresight!

Christopher Dean injured his shoulder whilst recording the Christmas Special of Dancing on Ice, therefore he won't be a choreographer in the new series, but will still give advise to the contestants. Be interesting to see whether he will do any routines with Jayne Torvil though.

Apparently he injured his shoulder in the routine he did with Jayne where he swung her around his head on a wire...

Jayne Torvill probably does.

If he's not rather than her doing something alone every week I think the best bet would be to have the professionals open the show with something most weeks until Torvill and Dean can return.
