He did in the old series but it was the first time I’ve seen him do it in the revival, granted I haven’t watched every single week!
I still miss the little presentation things, like yesterday after the opening titles to say it was the semi final no opening performance, in my opinion it would have been a nice idea to kick off with the Olympic medal winners performance rather than shove them in towards the end.
At least they’ve managed to sort out the insurance so T&D can do a performance next week!
The performance is generally later due to needing something between lines closing and the result. I think it is good too they've had more ice skating guests than musical performers this series. Agree though ideally they'd kick off every show with a pro performance.
Thought the final was pretty good with the right outcome. And unlike the Strictly final the placement of the finalists is clear.
Overall, it didn't quite feel the series was the 'complete reboot' that was promised and it dipped quite a bit in the middle. So plenty to work on for next year. I do think the rink needs to be bigger and it limited some of the routines.
I agree. It showcases the incredible choreography that Chris & Jane have, not only in their routine tonight but also in the performances that they put together for the finalists, some of the best choreography this series.
There is a lot to work on for next year, but overall it has been good to have it back.
DOI still has the edge over Strictly for me, although I realise I’m probably in a minority with this. Holly and Phil hold things together much better than Tess and Claudia, and the whole production just seems slicker.
I’ve enjoyed this series. The celebrities haven’t been the best, and the standard of skating has been better in past series, but it’s still an enjoyable watch.
It still amazes me that they managed to sign Pamela Anderson up in a previous series (although the cynic in me wonders whether or not she actually was bottom of the vote in week 1...)
I've always found it preferable to Strictly - just took itself less seriously.
The right winner but I felt the final was a bit flat to be honest. Jayne and Chris were incredible with their own routine but really didn't rate any of the showcases they choreographed - previous finalists have done better choreographing their own. Also don't understand why they scrapped the scoring for the final - they didn't in the original series and I think it is needed for "guidance" at least - it's understandable not to score the Bolero, but the earlier performances should be IMO. I think that explains why they gave Jake 10s last week when really he'd made a mistake which should have kept him at 9.5s.
One thing I think they should have took from Strictly though for the revival is letting all the finalists do all their performances, so having three Boleros - but still of course revealing 3rd place. Hopefully they'll release the full breakdown tomorrow - be interesting to see where Brooke was across the series and also Lemar in the early rounds. I do think with two head judges it would be better for ties to be broken by the public vote rather than the panel.
