The guy who replaced Gubba in the first incarnation was pretty good. I presume he may be off at the Olympics though which is the difficulty they would have faced launching this show on a winter Olympic season.
the previous incarnation was also launched in a winter olympics cycle, I liked the set and the commentator, but then again I like Matt Chapman, I feel he is the perfect fit

Simon Reed. Can't really use him for this series as he is Eurosport's lead commentator for the Australian Open tennis in Melbourne from next Monday, then straight over to South Korea to do the ice skating commentary for the Olympics.
The ‘LIVE’ graphic seems to be a prerequisite of these ITV shows now - not sure why since I’m sure everyone who watches Strictly isn’t sitting there confused about it.

Yeah, which is why that Live graphic needs to go away. It actually wouldn't be a problem on Strictly, but DOI has both the +1 and a Saturday morning repeat.

Surely it would be more useful for ITV +1 to say ‘Recorded Earlier’, or better yet, increase the size of the +1 DOG so it’s actually legible?

Yep that's a good point. They are more focused on making it pretty and small. ;
I'm sure that there will be a few tweaks to come. I hope that they hire a voiceover artist to do the 'skating to....' announcements rather than Holly & Phil, wasn't it John Sachs in the early days of the programme?
