Strictly Come Dancing on Ice Laughing

Genuine question - why did the BBC never erm 'talk' to ITV about this apparent breach of copyright? Politics? I'd think they'd have a case, unless I'm missing something really obvious.

According to Wikipedia, Dancing on Ice was in development before Strictly Ice Dancing anyway, so if there was a copyright case it wouldn't be as one sided as it may first appear.

Surly the next step is Strictly Synchro Dancing? Lots of 'celebrities' in a pool with nose clips and frilly swimming caps

How did Kirk and Big Mo manage to get time off from their soaps to do skating?
Corrie and DOI are both made by ITV Studios, so that explains Kirk. Not sure about Mo.

Re the new 2012 titles,

They seem awful American-ised this year, but a good improvement. But why don't they have the credits on the opening titles ie Executive Producer, Director like say X Factor USA. Is this just a USA thing or are UK Broadcasters not allowed to do it?

Think it would look so much better with that on the opening titles in some way.

Why would it look better to have the credits at the beginning? They're arguably just as important as any else listed in the credits.

Any reason why were are back at Elstree Film and Tv studios, after a year away down at Shepperton?

Is it because The Magicians have nicked the biggest stage down there - or has this programme taken a budget hit and needed to decamp back to cheaper facilities?

They couldn't have the stage at Elstree last year due to it being booked out (by Harry Potter I think). They were obviously itching to get back.

And credits on the titles look awful IMO and I don't get why the US do them. If they really must credit people at the beginning do it over the opening scenes after the titles role like dramas do now with their so short they're not technically titles opening.

It doesn't really. Just because two shows are made by the same company, that doesn't add more hours to the day. Isn't there a BBC rule that says that current EastEnders cast members can no longer appear on Strictly Come Dancing?

Looks like DOI have moved to full screen credits instead of lower third. Wonder if it was because Pres were just overlaying a promo over the fnal skating lap by the losing contestant, making the effort of doing those final shots a bit pointless?

It could have possibly been because after this weeks elimination, they lined up the remaining contestants on the ice to announce next weeks twist, therefore there was no final lap of skating, and a shot of the remaining celebs on ice may not look great.

Alternatively, we have seen little presentation changes recently on ITV1, maybe they're withdrawing the lower fifth.

What did UTV, STV, ITV1 HD and ITV Player do? They must have made a proper ending to the programme even if it was just the contestants waving for 30 seconds, just because ITV1 SD didn't play a promo, doesn't mean all outlets didn't or won't do in the future. There was also an 'In memory of' credit for this guy. Maybe that had a bearing on the style of credits chosen and the decision not to air a promo over the end credits this evening.

It would be interesting to compare switchover figures between programmes on ITV1 and ITV1HD. I suspect they would completely dispell the myth that end credit promos and announcements are needed to keep viewers around, especially when as you say so often they're just plugging the shows own website or telling us we can watch it against on the ITV Player or something - or even worse now, reading out tweets.

It was the standard black full screen credits, so they would have done a credit squeeze to promote anything that they wished as per usual.
