The Head Judge role does end up being somewhat meaningless on Strictly though - it's usually 3-0 by the time it gets to Len. I guess on Dancing on Ice this means the skating will take priority over the performance/dance - but IMO it's a mistake having a new routine for the skate off - much better to give them the chance to repeat the routine that got them their in the first place and improve on it, not only making it fairer to judge but also easier for viewers at home to know what they're trying to execute.
It would be interesting to see who is running things production wise considering the last season of Strictly was headed up by Dancing on Ice alumni.
Odd EPG entry for the first episode of Dancing on Ice this evening. It starts with "At the time of going to press..." and then lists the contestants still left in the competition including Anthea Turner, who left the programme last week. Looks like someone forgot to update the description after last weeks programme and it's picked up something meant for listing magazines and newspapers.
The description for the second episode and next weeks episodes is just a generic one as one might expect.
Interesting occurance on tonight's Dancing on Ice.
Gareth had fallen ill after his live skate, and found himself in the bottom two and too unwell to skate in the skate off. Therefore was automatically eliminated from the competition.
The vote had been cancelled, refunds are being issued, and now all 3 remaining skaters are skating their save me skates just to fill some time.
That together with the live accident with Oona King's partner has made this quite an interesting series.
They came close to having it happen two weeks running, luckily for ITV last week Samia Ghadie was able to do her skate-off performance despite being injured - but she still got eliminated.
Wonderful insight there from the Daily Mail yet again - I'm sure Christine is fully expecting to renew a contract she was effectively released from a little over a year after signing it.
As for Dancing on Ice - I suspect it'll get at least one more series as ITV will want to jump on the 30th anniversary of the 1984 Olympics next year, but I guess Christines role will very much depend on whether The Voice makes it to series 3, as if it doesn't I suspect Holly would be invited back. If anything though Christine has effectively been the lead presenter of the show this year - first in after each performance and probably doing more solo links than Phil - they've certainly built that part up since Holly left.
