Couldnt see a thread for this so started one

Press release has just been announced for the new series due to start on Sunday 9th January 2011. There will be 16 celebs taking part this year including Corrie's Steven Arnold and Denise Welsh, Hollyoaks Jennifer Metcalfe, Craig McLachlan, Angela Rippon and Kerry Katona- there will also be changes to the format including the viewers deciding who leaves each week so no judges scoring then??

More on the press release here http://www.itv.com/documents/pdf/DOI%20Press%20Pack.pdf

Looks a good line up this year.

After 20 odd seconds waiting for the page to load I've given up.

ITV can't make a website for toffee, can they?

Looking forward to the show, though. I hear only 12 on the 16 will make it into the lineup though, so perhaps the top 12 from the first week?

it will be a phone vote 2 in the 1st week and two in the 2nd and this year only 3 judges and the way I think it will work is like skating with the stars when they score the two times one for autist and the other for skill

It's crashed Firefox twice, Safari once, and then, whether coincidentally or not, I had to restart the computer, with Mac OS X telling me on startup that I had to report it to Apple - and that's never happened before. Hmm, don't think I'll go on there again.

I did notice however that it says on the site it was designed by another company, so it's not necessarily ITV's fault.

Yes, it is, they've selected the company and had the chance to check the end result.

Simply too many contestants. And they've dumbed down the panel by removing a lot of the skating expertise. Does anyone care what Emma Bunton thinks ?

As a positive it's supposed to be getting a new set with the new location, so that will be interesting.

She was on £1 Million Drop on Saturday (turns out she is as thick as pig **** BTW) and she seemed to be quite pregnant. I wonder if she will be replaced on Dancing on Ice mid-run when she has a baby.

That is the most shockingly produced press pack I've seen for a long time. There are mistakes on nearly every page.

"Over 450 songs have been edited and used to date (series 1-5)" followed almost immediately by "Over 380 songs have been edited and used to date (series 1-5)"

"That means over 1.2 million crystals were used in series 5 alone, and around 6 million since the show began!" followed by "Over 4.3 million crystals have been hand stuck onto costumes since the first series of Dancing on Ice"

I mean come on . Did no-one even scan-read it before they put it out?

If the production values are this terrible on the show itself, we're in for a rocky run.

Wow! Chloe Madeley, Vanilla Ice, Jeff Brazier.. that's got me tuned in!

I sometimes wonder if the ITV contract just says "FREE FAME. SIGN HERE______________"

So only half a dozen returning pros. Of the changes announced I'm not really a fan of any of them - why pay 16 E-list celebs £40k+ only to kick 4 off after their first appearance - viewers wouldn't be too bothered if there was only 14 instead.

The biggest change I don't like is cutting down to three judges, especially as it's two skating judges which have been dropped - which means performance will always win out in the skate off. Most of all though if screws up the scoring - and I've always felt DoI was more about the scores than the critique, with comments reflecting the scores rather than scoring reflecting the comments.

Interestingly though as "Head Coach" according to the contestants on This Morning today Karen Barber will "defend" the stars. But with Torvill and Dean still involved, isn't that their job.

It did need a shake up but Strictly has shown just a new set and generally a bit of a new attitude does wonders for the show. I'd have stuck to the five judges (it doesn't matter not all can comment) but actually bought Angela Rippon back as a judge, replacing Emma Bunton - and if they really wanted to ditch Nicky Slater (though it seems they've axed him for the sake of axing him) perhaps previous Keiron Bracken could have been the fifth judge, or I'm sure they could find some Olympic champion from overseas.
