The judges are fine, but I do agree things haven't changed too much since series 1 in terms of what they do. I think for example having a week in the later stages of solo performances (then perhaps a second with their partner) and perhaps incorporating the flying into the Bolero to freshen the final up a bit wouldn't be a bad idea.

I think the judges do need to change. I think Karen, Nicky and Emma should stay. I think Jason has to go because he has just turned into a parody of himself. He might generate publicity for the show but he's just coming across as desperate. Its not even as though its like Simon Cowell who is funny with it. I don't think Robin connects with the viewers and the skaters so well, I get the impression he finds himself above the show. I don't get why he's "head judge" either, its not like SCD where there are an even number of judges.

I think next year they should opt for the X Factor approach split over 2 days. I think its overkill, especially in the first half of the competition, where the show is on for 2-3 hours and then half an hour later on. Its too much. Perhaps next year they should have a 2 hour show on the Saturday with an hour long results show on the Sunday featuring a performance, a bit of backstage stuff and could be worth bringing back 'Make Me A Star'. On that note I'm surprised 'Make Me A Star' hasn't become a series in its own right yet!

They ought to just ditch DOI Friday and the spin off idea though, they're onto their fourth show now and its still not working. Surely that must tell them something.

Robin is head judge because he's the only one on the panel who is an Olympic champion. And it's ridiculous to say he doesn't connect with the viewers - he may not connect with you, but his opinion is probably the most valid of all the judges.

Dancing on Ice Friday certainly won't return next year - it's ratings are abysmal. The split seems an obvious thing to do but ITV's Saturday night line up has been surprisingly successful this year, so it might not happen, whilst on Sunday removing the performance show probably leaves ITV in need of a new 9pm drama to complete the schedule, and those cost money. In addition I think it would have to be live really - TXF shows the benefits of that, which cuts a full day out of the preparation for each weeks shows, which itself causes more problems.

His opinion isn't any more valid just because he's an Olympic champion. The public judge the contestants every week, its like saying their opinion isn't as valid. You don't need to have won anything or even be able to figure skate yourself to be able to recognise if someone can skate or not.

I don't think it would be a bad call to put Torvill and Dean on the panel actually.

Well they're Olympic champions so what on earth would they know about ice skating? Rolling Eyes

I never said what will they know, I'm just saying Robin's opinion isn't more valid than any other judge just because he's an Olympic champion. As the show seems to be centered around Torvill and Dean, they might as well be on the panel as the main judges.

I really hate it when the skaters say 'I really want to impress Jason'.
Why? If there is anyone you want to be impressing it's Robin.

If you can impress the harsh judge then you can impress anyone. Kind of like in early Pop Idol etc when people wanted to impress Simon (bearing in mind back then he wasn't any different to other record producers in terms of outstanding sales, return etc).

It seems Dancing on ice friday has been axed in Scotland.

STV has placed a new show onto Thursday 7.30pm slot moving Tonight to 8pm slot on Fridays
