It seems that the original Come Dancing format is returning - sort of. Except that Bruno Toniolli (sp?) and Arlene Phillips have to compete against each other to create their own dance syndicate from scratch.

DanceX is on BBC1 at 6:55 on Saturday. What a rubbish and cliched name for a programme - I'm pretty sure that before long Newsnight will be renamed NewsnightX . Can we not have a single new programme that hasn't got 'X' in its name (unless of course it's a xylophone playing competition?)

The only plus is that Graham Norton isn't hosting it. (I'm sure he must have been taking some kind of caffeine pills, as he seemed to be on every single blooming programme on BBC Television for the last fortnight.) But then again, I've never heard of Ben Shephard so I don't know what he's like.

Edit : sorry, Safari cut off the post because I used an accented E in the word cliche.

I'd say ITV concentrated more of the singing rather then the dancing. Personally I think both are a load of shíte.

Just what BBC1 needs is another dancing competition. Are they on 52 weeks of the year now?

I reckon DanceX sounds like Dance Sex and is therefore a "sexy dance competition". Well thats what Bruno Toniollipop thinks apparently.

Sadly talent shows ARE Saturday nights now.

Never heard of Ben Shephard? He's on GM-TV most mornings from 7am and he was also the presenter of ITV-2's "X-tra Factor".

Talking of Xtra Factor, don't forget DanceXtra on BBC3!

Anyhow, why is Ben Shepherd hosting - is Graham Norton busy or something?

This is so derivative and safe, and not what the BBC should be doing on a Saturday night. Why is it not in the "Strictly" family of shows ?

Will Ben Shephard be doing the X-Factor style arms crossed thing ?

What on Earth is going on with TV? In my opinion, the last five years or so have been the worst I've ever seen. Every time I switch the TV on it's either one of these bloody dancing/singing/talent voting shows or endless hours of watching prats sitting around houses/jungles/academies. Frankly, I'd rather watch a spider crawl over my living room wall.

Not dissimular to ITV's music talent output really! If you're going to critisise another broadcaster of being obsessed with a genre, at least get your own house in order first Wink
