With it now being four years to the day (09.00, Good Friday 29th March 2002) that the BBC One dancers launched, with Capoeira, I was wondering if there have been any special presentation aids to mark the occasion.
Also this is the last birthday we will have of the dancers, though it is hard to think they are now into their fourth year of being on our screens.
And if that's the case, it will prove the BBC's notoriety for doing exactly what it wants, not what the viewers want. Although the dancers' presence is now accepted, they seem as universally disliked as they were in 2002.
Let's hope lessons will be learned as work continues on their replacement, and while some are as keen as ever for the globe to return, I for one am not hopeful.
In my mind, the days of the globe symbol, be it reflective, balloon or whatever else, is sadly over. If it was to return I would no doubt be over the moon, but the chances are too slim, I'd say.
We don't even know for sure that the new look will be better than the dancers, although I had previously thought it can't get much worse.
Red Bee's work on the ITV channels did not impress me that much, with, worryingly, ITV1's idents being terrible (IMO).
Perhaps I shouldn't be judging them on one poor idea, but if they are prepared to stick almost random footage of people (and pigs/dogs) doing stuff or just standing around, onto ITV's flagship channel, who is to say they won't do something just as awful for the BBC's?

ITV got what ITV wanted. Red Be worked to their brief and produced work that was signed off by ITV. There's no reason at all to think that they'll do exactly the same for teh BBC
Let's not forget as well that Red Bee has done some very good stuff as well. The current BBC News 24 countdown received almost universal praise on here. I also think they did wonders for ITV News' image in their last revamp, and I was impressed with ITV2 and ITV3's new branding. It's a shame that ITV1 looms as such a large and ugly cloud for them.
EDIT: And bearing in mind that the BBC One Balloon and the Dancers were made by the same company shows that you can't judge how good the new idents will be based on who's making them.
