You're right everything that came after the original blocks on Channel 4 was awful, circles, lines, utter crap. The new logos are far more innovative but the 4 SHOULD be revealed at the end, they don't stay on it long enough.

I like the fact that the 4 is only displayed briefly, to resolve on the 4 would be too obvious. The problem with them though is that there aren't enough varients and also they do seem a little out of place with the animating transparent 4 used in the junctions (which is great).

As for previous Channel 4 graphics, the circles were ok if a little arty. The 4 in a square branding they got rid of last year was very good and, more importantly, versatile

I'm surprised, I didn't think the stuff that replaced the blocks was very clever. It was like ITV's idents except the Channel 4 stars talked. The Channel 4 stings where they tapped the glass were much better.

Think you're remebering it wrongly, It was nothing like anything ITV has done.

It was based on 4 linked circles, each one representing something diffrent (can't remember what - it was something deep!). The trails and slides had images from/about the programme in 2 circles, the time in another and the c4 logo in the 4th.

Looked quite good at first, but looked tired very quickly... found a bit on an old video the other day and now they just look a bit odd

I think the BBC should make an ident as a farewell one for the dancers. An idea is a spin off theme to the Conga and have an individual from each of the idents all in it together and see them dance out a door never to be seen again. Leading them would be a Capoeira dancer followed by a wheelchair then a skateboarder, tango girl, nightclub, music, bollywooders. Even get a haka dancer to actually move out the door as well and end them all with an acrobat swinging out the door. That would be fantastic if they could do that with the only reason why not would be the cost for a one off ident.

They did have circles but sometimes they would feature stars of channel 4 programmes, such as Father Ted or Frasier, who would do a little scene and then the circles would appear.

Remember those odd live-action things they had in the dying days of the original blocks? There was one of Kelsey Grammer in an art gallery where the 4 was a kinetic sculpture in a glass case, and a weird one with Antoine De Caunes doing a piece to camera with a 4 behind him, which bounced up to the foreground at the end. And probably others as well.

Now those I liked! Very Happy They also had some surreal ones with people saying 'this is Channel 4' and 'your attention please.'

Lovely idea! How about Capoeira with just the rooftop and two pairs of hands holding on to the edge for dear life? Or Skateboard with the boarders lying in a crumpled heap on the ground, being tended to by paramedics?

I've got a good one on tape somewhere of David Hyde Pierce (Niles from Frasier) saying "You're watching Channel 3" and then he looks behind him seeing the '4' logo and walks off screen in shame.

I've got loads there's Daphne and Roz fighting on one, Jon Snow, Lily Savage, Lee Evans and before them I've got the ones with various Channel 4 stars tapping the screen. Classics all of them!! Very Happy

Just in case some of you haven't realised, I was feeling a bit bored so I decided to make up an article. The Central graphics people have not been commissioned to produce the new BBC One identity! Sorry if this has caused any offence, it was only intended as a bit of a joke.

Oh you little rascal Wink , thought that was a bit too good to be true. Shame though

I'm so gutted!! Sad But all the other stuff about the idents going, reported on other sites IS true. Therefore the decision as to what the replacements should be hasn't been made yet!! So this would be the perfect opportunity to get in Mr Fincham's ear about the wonder of '1' from 1991. Johnny83, whiteside 2005 are you with me? Very Happy

Well as I said before I think they should have kept it along with the globe. Prehaps either in the graphic at the bottom (BBC 1) or somewhere on the balloon but then again where would you put it on the balloon
