The phone lines, we are told, closed at 9pm but what's to say the results show wasn't recorded at 8:45pm?

They wouldn't be so stupid as to do that. If it was to go so far as an investigation, they would find that nothing was wrong.

The thing is recent months have shown that certain people in the BBC (and others) are that stupid to do things like that!

Yes, but with all the 'media hype' (I really hate that phrase) surrounding it at the moment, such a big show wouldn't do so.

In which case, they should have kept the results show live and on the same night.

Mind you, Bob Say Opportunity Knocks kept us waiting a whole week to find out who viewers had voted for...

And to think earlier in the year the trend seemed to be going towards announcing the results in the same show as the performances.

SCD "family audience" reasoning is also a load of bollocks. If they were really concerned, they could just rejig the Saturday schedule so the results were on before Casualty (and even the Lottery) - rather than after.

e.g.
6.00 SCD
7.15 Robin Hood
8.00 SCD
8.30 National Lottery In it to Win It
9.20 Casualty
10.10 News

It was good to have it on Saturday, though I have no interest in SCD. If you want to know the results, you are more likely to stay watching the entire evening of programming on BBC One. Having it on another day means there is more chance of you thinking 'well, that's that then', and changing the channel.

So was the results show recorded then - and if so have the audience remained locked in the studio overnight?

I guess the most telling point could be whether Kenny Logan appears on ITV's Rugby World Cup coverage tonight - just minutes after SCD comes to an end.

This was covered on Points of View today.

They selected a sarcastic comment and then missed the sarcasm (I'm sure Barbara Harbach worked out that the show was pre-recorded herself)

Thanks for your question, Neil Fisher????! Oh, it wasn't a question????! Still, you got your name on TV????! Well done????!

The BBC treats us like idiots because we are. I'm sure they got people asking why they weren't honest about it being pre-recorded but why bother answering those when they can just put the stupid comments to air?

The only answer they gave was "It's recorded". There was no mention about why they were dishonest about it.

Yep - saw that, they were so flippant and didn't address the question, instead turning it into certain celebs being on screen too much and moving on to Graham Norton.

Similarly a latter question about why an episode of a series was not on the iPlayer when earlier episodes were was completely ignored and instead they talked about not putting US series on there instead.

I have noticed that in the past few series of points of view, its turned out to be less about answering viewers questions and more about promoting their programmes, etc.

And the fact that a few people thought it was meant to be live (or pretended they did to make some obscure point) isn't really the important thing in this. The important thing is that even if Bruce and Tess said "this is pre-recorded, you braindead idiots!" at regular intervals, having a recorded results show on Sunday evening is a really crap idea, because the result can and will be leaked. They've thrown away a key part of what made the show exciting just so that now ex-Controller Fincham could have a strong lead-in to... the news.

Why, after everything that has happened, are they still treating us like this?

Simon Cowell may hold the key to determining whether future SCD results shows are returned to Saturday. He is allegedly furious that the BBC published the finalists of The X Factor before the official announcement and, according to Teletext, has vowed to ensure SCD suffers the same fate next weekend.

Could you write up what Teletext actually said about him ruining next week's result please? Many thanks.
