I was shocked just a minute ago during the Six O'Clock News to see Dan Corbett doing the weather - I know he's been doing some of the BBC1 morning and lunchtime shifts recently, but this is the first time I've seen him on a prime-time forecast.
If this is a permanent promotion for him then it's excellent news, he brings something very unique to the forecasts.
Dan is a fabulous presenter, I work on regional radio and sometimes hear him on R5 just before we start our own output.
I really do hope to hear more from him in the future and obviously wish him all the best, he's on N24 as I write this...
he does a great job of keeping the weather practical with advice for those "mowing the lawns" or just "walking the dogs" and who can forget his sign off from when he temporarily left?
It was a funny moment as he desperately got his "and that's the weather-for now" in to the end of his broadcast as he handed back over on the wide angle 3 shot. Sophie and Darren looked suitably scared.
He's a legend - he's just informed us that it will be a "good weekend for the garden-or maybe even the park"

Perhaps, but surely if it wasn't the intention to have Dan presenting the prime time BBC1 forecasts they could have got someone else to do it. We were talking only months ago on this forum about the possibility that Dan was "banned" from BBC1 - this clearly isn't the case.

... not to mention for those "visiting Grandma", which last week featured in the same forecast as "mist and muck" coming in off the North Sea!
It's about time BBC One had a 'personality' weather presenter again. I'm sure given time he could become a national treasure in the same way that Ian McCaskill was.
I like the way that Daniel Corbett tells us how the weather affects us and gives us advice on what to do in the weather. He's a little eccentric which I have to admit is why I liked Ian Masckill as well.
