I have had to start this new thread as the original one has been archived.Just as Dan seems to be BBC1 TV more , people have stopped discussing him on here.
Anyway, he does seem to be on more since Michael Fish retired. After the events of Boxing Day, his forcasts were a bit more subdued, but recently he has been back on form. Talking about "brick walls" and " a piece of string", also "time to perhaps grab the heavy coat, and maybe the mittens" and yesterday something like "it will be a sunny day today, perhaps not enough to make you do pirioutes (sp) on the lawn". Defintely back on form! Smile

But are you any the wiser about the weather? It's unspecific, ham-fisted drivel.

The guy should be on the stage - where people could choose whether or not to pay and go to see him perform - but not in front of a weather map.

You may not like his style, but I think it's unfair to call it ham-fisted drivel. His meteorological knowledge is at least as good as the rest of the BBC Weather team, his profile on the BBC Weather website proves that, and he is highly skilled in explaining complicated weather patterns to the layman as it were. His description of a weather front as "fizzling out", "like pulling a piece of string apart" gives those with little knowledge of the technical side of the weather an idea of what processes are occurring and what that means for them.

I think he's easily the best weather forecaster on the BBC, second to none, and it's great that he's being given so many BBC1 shifts. We don't discuss him much anymore simply because of this, it's not particularly new now, but he brings something quite special and unique to the weather forecasts.

Give me Dan rather than boring Darren Bett or Jay Wynne any day.

Which side of the bed did you get out of this morning? Dan's a legend!! One of those 'big personalities' that brings any subject alive through his own enthusiasms.....

I don't think he pervades ham-fisted drivel at all.....

I find him annoying and incredibly camp (even though he's married with kids...although that means nothing these days!). Rolling Eyes

What are you saying? Are you saying because he's camp he must be gay and that being married with kids doesn't necessarily mean he's straight? He may be camp but that doesn't necessarily make him gay. Rolling Eyes

That's the impression I get of your opinion from your post, and if it isn't you opinion, you should make yourself clearer, and think before posting such generalisations.

I agree 100% he is by far the best weather presenter around.. and he makes the weather easy to understand... I like him... hes also been on BBC World alot too... which is good because thats the only place I get to see him.

I have no issue with his weather knowledge, just his ability to articulate it in a sensible, coherent fashion.

I didn't like Francis Wilson and his "fluffy bits" either.

I thought it was amusing when he started, but it got tiresome and if you actually listen to one of his forecasts it really does come across as unrehearsed drivel, with viewers none-the-wiser afterwards.

I only speak for myself as I find. Other opinions are equally valid, as it should be.

Agreed. Each to their and all that. I suppose most of us who like Dan only want to hear his Corbetisms rather than the actual weather forecast but on the other hand, why can't the weather be fun to make it more interesting for a certain type of viewer out there?

I think you should go back in your hole and stop assuming that there's anti-homosexual sentiment in my posts. Being camp does not mean you're gay. It's like saying "Oh that man is black...he must be a criminal". Rolling Eyes

The thing with Daniel Corbett is that he's got enthusiasm which some presenters lack (Rob McElwee) and wants to get more people intrested in the weather.
Besides, I like him - he'd be great on Breakfast on weekdays
