RIP Dale - I've never known anyone smoke as heavily - not necessarily related to his death though...

He didn't look well at all in the Channel 5 documentary that was broadcast recently.

Blimey that is a bit of a surprise, gone too soon, RIP Dale. Wonder if Challenge will be showing a few extra Supermarket Sweep episodes (or anything else) in tribute to him this weekend as per their recent tradition.

Wonder what it was, he hasn't been in the public eye much the last few years but when he has he's not seemed that well or at least not like the Dale Winton of his peak

Very unexpected - he'd just done a travel series for Channel 5 hadn't he?

Lets not forget Dale's career in radio as well. Started out in local radio and also presented Pick of the Pops on Radio 2.

Quite disconcerting when you post in a tribute thread and get the "Page not found" message.

The BBC seem to think he hosted Family Fortunes.

Quote:
TV presenter Dale Winton, who hosted Supermarket Sweep, has died at the age of 62, his agent has said.

He died at his home earlier on Wednesday, his long-term agent Jan Kennedy said in a statement.

"While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time of grief," she said.

He presented a wide range of shows, including Family Fortunes and In It To Win It.

More recently the star made a show for Channel 5 called Dale Winton's Florida Fly Drive.

He started his career as a DJ in London leading to work on local radio.

In 1986 he joined BBC Bristol to present Pet Watch for BBC One.

Over the years he also worked for Channel 4 and ITV.

Not sure if they finished airing that - think it got pulled due to the Florida shootings.

Indeed, will be interesting to hear Steve Allen tomorrow morning on LBC, they were good friends from when they both started out in radio.
