Dale also starred hosting a consumer item for one of the regional pilots for the daytime slot which was taken up by This Morning.
This clip at 7:48 shows Dale surprising Fern Britton with a clip of this:
And for completion's sake, a mention for Hole in the Wall which he infamously presented 10 years ago and was sent up repeatedly by Harry Hill.

Yes, The Weekend Show was a bit of a flop, it was a Planet 24 production - might have been their first ever for BBC1, in fact - and it was on Fridays at seven. It was a bit like a proto-One Show in that Dale would link into reports from across the UK and meet Members Of The Public With A Story To Tell, and Liza Tarbuck would do an OB from somewhere. Daley Thompson was also in the studio every week, for some reason, as Dale's co-host and offered absolutely nothing.

I remember the Radio Times going quite big on it at the time but it wasn't very good at all, Dale did his usual professional job but it was all a bit of a waste of time, and I remember Private Eye reviewing that and Steve Wright's People Show and saying both of them were just programmes for the sake of being there with no reason for them to exist. I assume the idea was that it could have run all year round if it had caught on but it was off pretty sharpish.
Mention of his Gotcha reminds me that the first time I saw him was on the ill-fated Bobby Davro - Public Enemy Number One, because he would appear in most of the hidden camera stunts trying to convince the public to do something or other.
It was a series on BBC1 in 1995 that was his BBC debut (Pet Watch aside) and his first prime time gig after Suoermarket Sweep. Wasn’t a hit but basically launched him on the BBC - did the Lottery cover for Anthea Turner shortly after, got Pets Win Prizes, The Other Half and all the rest. The rest is history...
Richard Marson directed it, and gave an interesting anecdote on Twitter this week (without naming the programme)...

It's funny, I could tell straight away it was a Planet 24 production (and not just because of the white powder references). It has a very Planet look, and actually looks as if it's shot at their studio in Bow (behind the BB house) although I didn't think it could accommodate an audience.

Seemingly it was indeed filmed there.
