Now that we've lost the Open University, there's a hint on this page the Learning Zone could be reduced accordingly to four nights a week. But no schedules are yet available for January.

That said, RadioTimes.com has BBC2 closing down on the night of Sunday 07 January. So what's going on?

Learning Zone will return at 2600 on Monday 8th January, or 0200 on Tuesday 9th, if you prefer.

And then, how many days of the week will it be on?

I can only see as far as the end of that week, but there is no LZ on the Friday night/Saturday morning, which suggests 4 nights per week.

The Learning Zone reduces to 4 nights per week as of January, due to the removal of the OU programming - I would assume, meaning it will now only be on new times will be:-

Monday evenings / Tuesday mornings: 2.00 - 6.00am - Languages
Tuesday evenings / Wednesday mornings: 2.00 - 6.00am - Schools
Wednesday evenings / Thursday mornings: 2.00 - 6.00am - Schools
Thursday evenings / Friday mornings: 2.00 - 6.00am - Schools

So a reduction in weekend slots accounts for the old OU programming slots, while Workskills (formerly on a Sunday evening / Monday morning) also appears to have been scrapped...

So will pages from ceefax be shown on the nights when LZ isnt being broadcast?

Perhaps a 'BBC TWO Sign Zone' will be introduced?

The first night of the changes (i.e. Friday 12th / Saturday 13th) will see Ceefax broadcast on BBC Two after the last programme of the day (very much like what we have seen over the Christmas period during the LZ Xmas break), with the schedule as follows for that night:

12.15am. World Professional Darts
1.05am. World Professional Darts Extra
3.05 - 6.00am. Ceefax.

Presumabley this will be the shape of the schedule, at least from the start, on the three non-LZ nights of the week - late films / sport programmes filling the schedule till around 3am, then Ceefax until 6am...
