Is there any news on new channels on Freesat? Will BBC One HD be on there for example?

BBC One HD will be, yes. As for any others, we're going to be looking at the PSBs for our best hope of any quality HD channels (programme-wise, anyway), and as both C4 and Five seem to have cosied-up to Sky with distribution deals, launches in the near future look unlikely.

Not really a new channel but was looking for info about the Sky HD channels and found a news report that the BBC were aiming to have all network programmes in HD by April 2011

Will require a dramatic increase in daytime stuff along with BBC Three programming, are any of BBC Three programmes made in HD yet?

Quote:
TechEye.net reports that the BBC is planning to ensure all of its networked programmes are made and broadcast in HD by April 2011.

According to the website, the broadcaster classes a show as HD when a minimum of 75 per cent of content is filmed in the format. The other quarter tends to consist of standard definition material which can be shown as such.

With any luck, The Cleveland Show (even though its on E4) is in HD, the Something Something Something Darkside episode was released on Blu-ray at Christmas, even though it is HD, it's 4:3, but considering The Simpsons is HD now, hopefully FG should be next season.

Don't forget that Family Guy is in HD on FXHD.

Even though it's flagged as HD on the EPG, it just seems to be upscaled 4:3 SD with black bars at the side - at least it was when I last saw it on there.

Family Guy won't go HD until September.

Yes, I've been reading about the new titles for the launch of season 9 which'll be in HD. I've been caught out by a) the quality of upscaling on FXHD, and b) Sky Guide flagging it as native HD.

The new series of Family Guy as seen on BBC 3 is still 4:3, never mind HD. Anyway, how would it benefit from being in HD ?

That's a fair question, but Cleveland does look better.

As much as block colour and an outline can.

Umm, interesting.

It would be interesting to produce a cartoon in 3D ?
