Even more, FIVE's HD license (which has been handed back, hasn't it?) is in May's stuff, also looks like they've got the license for yet another channel?

That'll be for their Sky service - Five HD will be on Sky soon, but not on Freeview HD - they lost their space on that platform, which is probably what you're thinking about.

Isn't this channel 219 on Sky? Currently labelled as Channel TBC?

On that list there is two 'Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited' 'FIVE HD' and the 'Channel TBC' you have mentioned

Sky also licenced 'Sky News+1', even though they only ever used it as a placeholder on the EPG, so it doesn't necessarily indicate that FIVE are intending to launch two new channels.

Slightly off topic, but I got my mittens on a Sky+HD box today after we upgraded. And after messing about and getting used to the new guide, remote, etc I noticed that autoview had been removed as an option. Is there a reason for this?

Was handy now we have my Grandma living with us and the idea of her managing to change channels on Sky manually are basically comical. Laughing

Autoview was on the original Sky Boxes and allowed you to change the Sky channel so that you could record more than one channel using your VCR or DVD recorder when you weren't present. Sky removed this option when Sky+ first came out.

Ofcom licenses are needed for all channels that uplink from the UK. Many European channels that never go on Astra 2, uplink form the UK and therefore need a licence.

There's already Disney Cinemagic HD on Sky, but not the main channel.
