It looks like STV HD will be launching on Sky (or at least Freesat) in time for the World Cup which is rather great.

This is being disucssed in Metropol's TX Suite.

Yet to hear a launch date for Virgin - would it be a safe assumption that it will come in the summer too?

There have been rumors (but no official announcements) that Bravo is to launch in HD.

Virgin also mentioned last year when they launched ESPN that there were looking into Good Food HD, again I have not head anything since that initial announcement.

According to Media Guardian last week, a takeover of Virgin Media's channels by Sky could be only days away, which would almost certainly see Living HD on Sky. Not a new channel, but it'd be new to most HD viewers.

In turn does this suggest we may get the Sky HD channel portflio on Virgin?

Virgin have said they will have Sky Sports HD by the start of the new football season and news reports suggest as part of the VMTV sell off HD services will come to Virgin

Quote:
As part of the complex deal to sell Virgin Media TV to Sky, the cable operator is expected to cement a long-term carriage deal.

This will ensure it has continued access both to the VMTV channels such as Living, once sold off, but also to BSkyB's premium sports and movie channels and high-definition services.

Once again - on both sides actually - that's blatant abuse of their positions as both content and platform providers - getting Sky Sports HD onto cable should not be conditional at all on the sale of channel portfolios.

So, STV is now in HD, and the next question is, when does it look like Children's channels will be going HD?

In the US, Nickel Channel and Disneyodeon are all in HD, so when will it come here?

Nickelodeon is currently in HD on MTVN HD Saturday Mornings (I think) and flicking through, Disney have some new series that sound like twaddle but I presume would be in HD in America, so surely they'll be coming over soon?

Also, I'm sure I've heard that Nickelodeon have picked up an HD Transponder, so they could be in the process?

EDIT: There's a license on the Ofcom website.

Even more, FIVE's HD license (which has been handed back, hasn't it?) is in May's stuff, also looks like they've got the license for yet another channel?
