The image above looks neat and professional but ...

This one doesn't Shocked I just don't like the way its not lined up with the image and the text is too large.

Yes they ditched UTV Day at the beginning of November when the UTV jingle made a comeback!

As mentioned elsewhere we've now got a situation yet again where UTV have started to use an NPU presentational device (this time new look promos) before they should be.

They seem to do this all the time, use xmas pres at the start of Dec, UTV Day idents at weekends etc.

How do they manage to be so shambolic. Surely when they receive the graphic packs they say 'To be used from 16/01/06 9.25am onwards'

I wonder are the NPU within their rights to stop making promos for UTV and just send them the raw footage for them to make a promo with themselves

why? the NPU must be paid for in some way or other by the itv companies - including utv. utv are paying for a service from the npu, surely its upto utv to decide when where and how to use the material they have paid for, as they are an independent company.

The text is now too far to the right of the image!

Not to mention it's probably straying out of the 4:3 safe area.

If these were put in the Mocks section, I'd love to see what scores they would get.

The Fat Families promo looks like it was done in the digisuite where there's a proper Aston available to use, with that font.

The Insight promo was probably done on one of the Avid's where the titling options (if you've ever used one) is faily well.. cra*, and since Insight is edited on Avid, all the material is already on the systems so the promo can be easily put together.

As to the new look ITV Promos, perhaps ITV should stop sending out them without clear instruction. Or even provide the cleanversion to re-use on the endboards for local shows (exactly what seems to have happened). Still it's not revealing ITVs new look and logo, that's the other point.

Oh, if your interested, the Casio idents appear to have been composed by a Mr John Anderson who also wrote the tune to All Mixed Up...

Col, if you think that's bad, take a look at this one:

Well it's probably about time that TV stations stopped this practice of putting everything on 16:9 material into a "safe zone" for 4:3 anyway.

It's about time that widescreen viewers were not penalised just because there are a few luddites who resist change.

That would be nice, but there are still millions who have non-widescreen sets.

Seriously, i thought every network abandonned that sort of thing with the advent of fire and gravity...
