I know there will probably be a discussion somewhere on this, but I just wondered if SKY News has a CSO Studio, if so, do they use this during the Night.?.

I don't know that they do. There have been times overnight when I've seen the videowall turned off, so presumably they do all their maintenance and resting of equipment with the studio still running.

As I recall, the videowall isn't actually switched off but fed with black. Not 100% on that though.

Sky News only regularly use CSO for weather; overnight they use a side shot that does not feature the videowall or much of the newsroom - although this is still real. It seems that the midnight bulletin is recorded and repeated through the night if work is going on.

Why would they do this?

Absolutely no idea. That's just what I was told!

Electrical equipment (especially power supplies) are more reliable if they are not subjected to regular heating/cooling cycles, so if something is not going to be used for a few hours it is better to leave it on than off.
