That would make sense... It would also suggest that the graphics at the top and bottom of the screen are run by a different system/logic... I can see some advantages to that setup (being able to record output with song title graphics only for example)

I recall something on Box Hits with the 2 dogs on top of each other (assumed it was a glitch at the time). That may have been the emergency one on top of the correct one...

Yes, previously when the Box Plus App and website were in full operation, they started uploading playlists by removing any DOGs and just using channel graphics, then towards the end of them doing it, the show titles were also removed leaving just the song titles and any Now/Next and information graphics.

You'd be correct in saying that the two logos you saw were indeed the actual DOG and the back-up DOG layered over each other since they have to manually apply the back-up and just didn't take it off at that point.

(I'm not fully clued up when everyone talks technical, so I may not put this in the right way, but...) Box Plus do run their graphics off VizRT engines. Each component would be on a different layer which they can toggle on and off, which may be why when the Boxmas brand was reintroduced, when they eventually got the graphics up and running, but for the first day the DOG was still using The Box's instead.

Boxmas is continuing into January again (this time reverting back to The Box, unlike last year when to was due to Box Upfront closing), operating in the same way as last year as a 'non-stop party playlist', as I said, I just don't think they have a back-up DOG with the Boxmas logo.

Because I though that as a channel Vox Africa is not well known here in Britain

MTV XMAS has reverted back to MTV CLASSIC today despite the Sky EPG still labelling it as MTV XMAS.

I guess Sky don’t make changes to their EPG on a bank holiday.

They don't make any changes over the Christmas period - it's called the Christmas lockdown.

Does anyone know if the 4Music Freeview red button extra channels service actually works on any box? I assumed my old Freeview box might not be compatible but it doesn't work on my new one either and I realised it's got a now pretty old 4Music logo on the menu screen. It's almost like it's been abandoned and whoever knew how to turn it off and remove the red button prompt has left without leaving any instructions!

The Now 80s/Now 90s name changes were made on the 27th fine though, possibly the wrong date to revert the name was put in for this one or the change didn't occur for some reason. I'm sure this happened in a previous year too...

The change freeze you refer to usually relates to updates/technical changes which could have unforeseen issues and can wait until the new year.

It used to work on my Hisense TV but it seems to have been removed now. Not sure if it has just been removed from some models or if it is now a closed service.

Apologies for the double post, but I have now had confirmation that Christmas version of The Box branding shouldn’t be on screen, and that the Boxmas branding should be on screen soon



Also just an interesting side note, Box Plus email accounts (@boxplus.com) have been shifted/‘converted’ to @Channel4.com emails instead

Still works for me - obviously unloved though with the old logo still there.

The Sky EPG has reverted MTV XMAS back to MTV CLASSIC. Trace Hits has also launched but the EPG has just labelled it as "Trace".

Update: The EPG for Trace Hits has now added "Hits".
