The Crystal Maze rumoured to be returning...

It has been rumoured in the past week, as it has before, that The Crystal Maze is going to be making a comeback!!! Whether this is true or not remains to be seen, but there has been an article in the Daily Star last week about its apparent return, with Russell Brand offered the deal and taking over as host! It is also being mentionned on the Media Guardian website and the Challenge forums.

Is this just speculation or finally, are we going to see the triumphant return of The Maze? I suppose if Gladiators, Mr and Mrs and now it seems, Blankety Blank can make comebacks, why not this show?

I do hope this is true, but fear it's something made up on Wikipedia that has started the rumour.

It's a show I was in love with as young child and when I first got sky, at the age of about 12 or 12, so I'd love to see the return of it. Unless they put it on a subscription channel (I no longer have access to Sky subscription channels).

And with those two words "Daily Star" the hopes of it being true are dashed.


Would love it too though, and Russell Brand would be perfect. As you say though, it's been rumoured before and never come to anything. Not quite sure what channel it would work on though - I'm not so sure it still fits with C4.

It wouldn't come back on C4. Challenge is the obvious place.

It would be amazing if it came back. And Russell Brand is the sort of character that would host the show so would be perfect.

Although I fear that if it did the set wouldn't be as large scale as the original due to costs. Kind of like how Gladiators decided against using the NIA for the comeback.

They couldn't afford to do it justice though. I'd say the BBC or Five really, though I'd hope for C4 as it's really their show.

Let hope it doesn't end up looking like this then.

Russel Brand won't be involved. He plays himself in Hollywood films now.

The Crystal Maze studio is still up and running. Its used for team building exercises so I'd assume if it was to return it would just be the case of hiring the maze out.

I'd love it to return, and Russell Brand would be the perfect host, except that the very fact that he is Russell Brand might turn off a lot of viewers before the first episode. Still, it would be fantastic, and I only hope it doesn't suffer from comebacks that other game shows have had, e.g. Ask the Family.
