The Crystal Maze returns to C4

In a way I suspect the limitations of the live experience set has actually forced a better production than an empty warehouse and unlimited budget might have done.

Is this definitely the music they'll be using?? Why can't they use the original score?? It still sounds amazing!!

The original does sound like it's from 1990 though and they want to make the show a success in 2016 which means tweaking the music to modernise it.

The fact they've gone to extent of making new music means they're considering a relaunch of the brand rather than just a one off special so it's good sign.

Yes the trailer makes a point of saying of saying it is a one off celebrity special but wasn't 15 to 1 a one off celebrity special (which came back with an updated theme tune), 8 out of 10 cats does countdown was a one off special which came back again and again and eventually replaced the original version, TFI Friday was a one off special that became a series so I honestly think if this does well it will come back again next year. Although the only question mark I have is if Stephen Merchant would want to commit to a full series or even have the time to do it.

I bet we won't see much of the transitions between the zones - instead, we'll be prompted to donate money to Stand Up 2 Cancer - which is all well, good,and worthy, but it shouldn't interrupt the main programme. It should be added in between during the ads or at the end of Part 1 for example.

Also, if Maureen Lipman is coming on board as Mumsie - then which character is she playing??? Is she supposed to be Stephen Merchant's Mum, or is it supposed to be Richard O'Brien's Mum??? The fact she is going to be called Mumsie, suggests she is playing Richard O'Brien's Mum - even though Richard O'Brien isn't even presenting any more.

In further potential storylines next year - if The Crystal Maze came back as a full series and David Tennant did actually take up the reign as the full time presenter - then who would Mumsie be then, if still played by Maureen Lipman??? Stephen Merchant's, Richard O'Brien's or David Tennant's Mum???

And where does Lance and Starbuck the Cat come into all of this??

Is Ed Tudor-Pole being recognised or appearing at all in the special??? He should be!

Presumably as a dream/nightmare sequence.

Considering I've heard he doesn't like to talk about it, and hates that people think of him for that and not his music career, I doubt it.

Why? He hosted one of the best game shows on British TV?!?

Doesn't mean he has to appreciate it though.
