Classic Crystal Maze moments. Richard O'Brien fell up the steps in Aztec once too.
I couldn't believe what a complete and utter hash the guy made of the planet game. But this is secretly what we tune in for I reckon - I loved it and found it hilarious. Maybe a moment even up there with the likes of "Press U3!" and "This [tap]? No. This one? NO!"
Obviously too many pizzas consumed by the Pizza Hut team. Looking at the prices Pizza Hut charge I'm surprised anybody buys from them. My pizza needs are satisfied by buying them from Lidl. Don't look as nice but what do you expect for 95p?
But anyway... Crystal Maze grew on me as the show ran. I don't think its too bad a show now regardless of what I might have said earlier in the thread. Still think they could cram another two games in at least, maybe three.
The Crystal Maze returns this Sunday at 8pm on Channel 4. This is the final 7 episodes from Series 1. This looks to be an excellent slot for it to be in, as it is not against Coronation Street or Eastenders this time around. Only Antiques Roadshow or The Durrells could dent it. Therefore, it should gain more viewers this weekend!
Well we finally have an answer to one of the great unanswered questions of Crystal: What do you do if there are no crystals and you're at the dome? In this version you go through the regular procedure, feel incredibly silly and get a grand score of bugger all.
Two new format records - no crystals and the same person locked in twice. Woo.
Good to see it happen but infuriates me when teams forsake crystals when it's not advantageous to do so, though the last one was fair enough as 5 seconds wasn't going to make any difference. Don't think they really warranted a commemorate crystal either, especially if they still say "I cracked the Crystal Maze".
Anyhow, still think Richard Ayoade is perfect for this and can just about forgive most flaws in the revival except the not following the maze in chronological order - that really does wind me up!
The team accumulates 0 crystals with 0 seconds before approaching the dome & going into it.
'We are all losers together' going from Ayoade.
Yikes. What a start to this series.
Well in every game show format somebody has to claim the previously unachievable aka the worst possible outcome to gain notoriety. In this case one of the unachieved was to get to the dome with no crystals. Achieved. It couldn't get any worse really, short of having no crystals, five lock-ins and the maze having being set on fire by the computer in Future. This team will probably pop up on some retro show in 20 years time and say "I was part of the team that went on Crystal Maze and got to the dome with no crystals. We never lived it down."
Still at least whatever the next team achieves is going to be better.
