Also, Louis Spence... oh, I'd love to slap him. Such an attention whore and he ruins everything he is in. Honestly, how does anyone in his personal life stand him?

I have a vague recollection of seeing some documentary (of the "celeb's real lives" calibre) about him, and there was a bit with his mum and his aunt, both of whom were fawning over his every kick and spin. Which is fine, only he seems to think the public are every bit as enamoured of his persona and actions as those two ladies, and... we're just not. Whenever I see him (that's charitable; saw him) on telly, his "act" seems to consist of hoofing around in front of, behind, and on top of the host until the audience, having tittered awkwardly for a couple of minutes, finally cracks and gives him a round of applause to make him stop.

There was a very obvious edit with the first game in Futuristic, Richard's comment about the airlock (deliberately) giving it away. Pretty sure that that game didn't take place behind that door.

But saying that, continuity errors and blindingly obvious cutaways were a feature of the original, even before Challenge started butchering the episodes for time.

It reminded me of that game from one of the later series in the original run. You would see the contestant running in, then he/she would be suspended in "space" with no door in sight.

*

(An illusion once ruined when a contestant won the game with very little time left and you briefly saw him jumping off onto a mat when he grabbed the crystal!)

Anyways, I really enjoyed the new episode. Music wasn't that intrustive to my ears, reminded me of the old iPhone game actually.

Pineapple Dance Studios and Louie Spence's Showbusiness both provided unintentionally hilarious moments - and therefore made excellent fodder for TV Burp - narrated by Michael Buerk no less.

Just no more celeb specials please. Or at least get actual interesting celebs.

Actually I think the choice of celebs was inspired. Each from shows that appeal to different audiences, so I suspect that for a lot of us who remember the original first time round the reaction to at least half of the team was "who??" So it was effectively a bunch of punters with the bloke off the Last Leg as celebrity team captain and that annoying dancer prat.

I agree, I think the choice of some celebrities is so that the younger audience, who may never have seen The Crystal Maze before, start watching it, I think this is the case as 4Music's flagship show Trending Live! was given a clip from the first game, so that viewers of Trending (who are mainly teenagers and young adults) watch it, Channel 4 have recently been doing the same thing with clips from Hollyoaks, Channel 4 clearly seeing that the show is getting more popular (which I can say it has as I've been watching the show for over a year now and it only started a few months earlier.) so are giving Trending and The Box Plus Network more exclusive clips from Channel 4.

Surprised it isn't getting a weekend repeat in an earlier slot on C4 itself, but it is getting an 8pm repeat on Sundays on E4 and gets four outings on 4Seven including one at 9pm on Wednesdays (the others at 11.05pm, 12.05am and 1.05am throughout the week).

Suspect they'll be parents across the land not understanding why their kids just don't get it.

Well, apparently teenagers get it, hence the E4 screening.

On the next Crystal Maze as the entry's now become available on the EPG is celebrities Steve Jones, Scarlett Moffatt, David Coulthard, Joey Essex and Jodie Kidd.

Oh and Channel 4 are using the rolling crystal breakbumper too.

The set looks far nicer on Channel 4 HD as opposed to what I saw on the stream yesterday...

I'll put money on Scarlett being made captain...

Watching it now, and Louis Spence was just as I expected, doing his splits and poses constantly, thank god he got locked in.

There is definitely lots of padding of boring chatter between the games.

To be honest, this is like watching a civvy edition with all these non-entities. (except Ore and Alex)

So glad I didn't watch the via the stream provided yesterday as the set looks fine watching via C4 HD.
