Here's an idea, Endemol take it on on the backend of Big Brother revenue!
Endemol would probably be invovled anyway... they are with about 115% of programmes on television nowadays!
What ever they do in terms of format, the one thing that can't really mess with is the concept of zones leading to a dome with tokens. Other than that, ITV I guess can try anything they want.
don't forget when the original set was built for Channel 4 nearly 20 years ago, it cost £1 Million even before a single episode had been shot.

I agree with Juicy Joe. The Crystal Maze was not just excellent for its games, and its contenstants who perfomeed so badly, but the presenter who bought something unique within each zone, for example, Bert was spoken about often by Ed, and he also (but not as often as Richard did) spoke to the computer Barbara, it made each zone have something unique, I for one thoguht that a trip to the future was incomplete without Edward saying hello to Barbara, or Richard saying hello to the "grumpy" computer of series 1 and 3. Also it was incomplete without seeing Mumsey in MedievaL TIMES.
Anyway my point is the new presenter would have to be able to interact with something in each zone, so infuture a talking computer, aztec maybe some form of bird or aztecian, medieval ok some form of ancient time or even mumsey and for ocean world a seaman who might even be prersent to show that all is safe in the game areas that whoiever the presenter is is safe to play in. it all adds to the interaction and authenticity I feel
I for one was hugely dissapointed in the last ever crystal maze that Edward did not even say hello or goodbye to Barbara- perhaps he did not know it would be the last ever episode?

I don't think that they decided to end The Crystal Maze until half-way through Series 6 or after the Series had actually aired on Channel 4. I have the last programme recorded on VHS from Channel 4 in 1995 and the continuity announcer introduces it something along the lines of "Now on 4, and for the last time, one final trip around, The Crystal Maze". Ed does say at the end that he was unsure when he would be seeing us all again, but hopefully soon - so maybe he did know?
In my opinion though, I do not feel Ed was given a fair crack of the whip at the time and if it was to return, it would be great to see Ed (now aged 54) back at the helm!!
Anything has got to be better than Amanda Holden!!! Even Basil Brush's Crystal Maze would be acceptable!! Bring back Ed!

It would certainly be an easy gig for Derren if all his other projects dry up.
I've always thought Derren Brown would be great at hosting the Crystal Maze. He's got the cunningness and sharp wit of Richard O' Brien and he could play some clever mind tricks on the contestants.

I'm informed that Edward TP was last seen on an episode of Marple, called A Pocket Full Of Rye. He also had cameo in a Potter film (Chamber of Secrets) as a shop-owner-- however the scene was reportedly deleted from the final cut (but remains on the DVD extras of said film?)

Personally I think Derren Brown is too much of straight man (ironically), he's not really an excentric if you take away his tricks.

I noticed in The Sun newspaper today about a new programme, starting on April 3rd, called The Door. Although there wasn't much detail in the article, it has six 'celebrities' doings tasks, behind a door presumably, and it's presenter is Amanda Holden albeit with Chris Tarrant as well. Could this be how The Crystal Maze revival rumour started?
